Vintage 40s Romper and Skirt Set Extra Large Plus

Rompers are so much fun and the perfect thing for resort wear and just lounging around the house. This is a set that includes a cotton romper with a matching button-front skirt. The fabric is brown cotton with off-white bows and it has great vintage off-white buttons. It is a hard to find extra large size and measures 44” bust, 36” waist and 48” hips. It is in excellent condition and I could find no problems. Don’t miss this fun set!

Vintage Japanese Black Haori Summer Weight Kimono

This lovely haori is made of a lightweight, mesh-like fabric similar to Ro, but I do not believe that it is silk. It had sweet little leaves embroidered on it. It is in very good condition.

Size-wise, I am an average sized American woman – 5’5”, 140lbs. – and all these Japanese garments fit me just fine. Since they are cut full to fit over an obi bow, they could also fit a larger or smaller woman. My favorite way to wear them is with a turtleneck and trousers or a skirt, but I’ve also worn them with kimono for tea ceremony events. It’s tough to part with any of them, but I’ve run out of storage room.

Please do not buy my Japanese clothing if you intend to cut them up. All the pieces are still in very good to excellent wearing condition and it would be a shame to destroy them.

Beautiful Vintage 30s Blue Silk Haori Great Lining

This gorgeous haori is quite old and is most likely from the 1930s or 40s. It is a married woman’s haori, but the sleeves are particularly long, which they often were during this period. It is made of bright blue silk – the color is truer in the close-up – with a rust colored arabesque pattern. The lining is a fantastic pattern of yellow clouds and flowers and red balls. It is in very good condition for it’s age – there are a few small holes, but since the pattern is so bold, they are difficult to spot.

Beautiful Lavender Vintage Haori Hand-painted Lining

This beautiful haori is made of lavender silk with a geometric pattern woven into it in multicolored and metallic threads. The most striking thing about it though is it’s lovely hand-painted lining. It is done in the sumi-e (ink painting style) and depicts a camellia in pink with ink black leaves. The painting is signed and has the artist seal. It is in excellent condition.

Lovely Vintage White Silk Haori Scenic Pattern

I bought this lovely haori in Tokyo from a little shop in Shijuku. It is made of very soft silk with a sweet scenic pattern in black with purple fans scattered about. It is in excellent condition.

Lovely Vintage All Shibori Haori Tan Maple Leaves

This lovely haori is made entirely of shibori fabric, which is a very labor-intensive method of tie dying that requires thousands of tiny section to be tied off in a pattern before the fabric is dyed. This haori is a very versatile tan color with a pattern of momiji or maple leaves, so it is perfect for fall. It is in excellent condition.

Bright Floral Vintage Girl’s Wool Juban Contrasting Collar

This lovely juban is made of a bright floral pattern, which is surprisingly wool or a wool blend, but it is fully lined in cotton, so it is not itchy. It has the neatest contrasting collar and looks great with the style that is popular in Japan right now of young women wearing vintage kimono in interesting, non-traditional combinations. While it is for a girls and a bit short on me, it worked just fine under a kimono. It is in very good condition for it’s age, but does have a few small moth chewies.

Stunning Vintage Olive Michiyuki Jacquard Pattern

This stunning michiyuki – which means “going out” and is meant to be worn for longer trips in colder weather than haori – is made of a lovely variegated olive colored fabric (I’m not sure if it is silk) with an arabesque pattern done with a jacquard weave. It has an unusual curved collar and is fully lined in white. It is in excellent condition and I don’t think that it was worn before me.

Size-wise, I am an average sized American woman – 5’5”, 140lbs. – and all these Japanese garments fit me just fine.
