VILLAGE THEATRE KIDSTAGE TEENSELECT PRODUCES Steven Schwartz’s, Children of eden

Everett, Wash. — Village Theatre KIDSTAGE TeenSelect produces Children of Eden, running February 12-21, 2010 at Everett Performing Arts Center in downtown Everett.

From Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, and Wicked) and John Caird (Les Miserables) comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith... not to mention centuries of unresolved family business! Freely based on the story of Genesis, Children Of Eden is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the "Father" who created them, deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that "the hardest part of love... is letting go."

KIDSTAGE has brought April Wolfe (recent Peter Pan understudy at Seattle Children’s Theatre) in to direct the 21 student cast through this challenging production. Loni Kappus, KIDSTAGE programs manager comments, “KIDSTAGE chose this production for TeenSelect to give a wide variety of students the opportunity to be featured not only in a full-scale musical, but a musical with a very tough score.” This performance is very unique in that it will be ¾ thrust, with the audience seated on stage so it will be a very intimate setting and a new challenge for most of the cast members who are used to working in a proscenium setting.

KIDSTAGE TeenSelect’s production of Children of Eden is a full scale musical with scenic design by Elizabeth Stam; musical direction by Danny Sullivan; lighting design by Andrew D. Smith; choreography by Marianne Roberts; costume design by Nancy Horner; and sound design by Jacob Rose. The cast members are from: Edmonds, Everett, Lake Stevens, Lakewood, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Snohomish, and Stanwood.
