VSK was formed up in 1996 by multi-disciplinary social activist. As a strategic move in year 1999, VSK initiated its implementation units, with view to enrich the exchange of learning through support activities. Thus, the organization started as a proposed Public Trust in 1996 and then got formally registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 and Society Registration Act, 1860.The support included services like community organization, Projects finance & management services including planning, Monitoring, capacity building, advocacy works.

Vision:
Ours heart is in the villages, according to friction of Gandhiji every village must be a self-reliant. Gandhiji had suggested a way of life that would ensure sustainability as also gender equity and uplift of the underprivileged. A world in which people Man and women, are in harmony with each other, a world in which all have enough to meet their genuine emotional & physical needs, which must be the ultimate goal and will of humankind.
We are working in: Amreli, Bhavnagar and Junagadh district of Gujarat state and Diu (UT).
Current Activities:
1. TI (Targeted Intervention):
We are working in the coastal block of Veraval, Una and Kodinar with the coastal commnity on the issue of HIV/AIDS. Target intervention programme is based on the core composite group at Veraval, Una and Kodinar block of Junagadh district. The project is sponsored by the Gujarat State Aids Control Society. The activities in the project are based on the core composite group and mainly targeted on high risk behavior people. The main aim of the project are to Increase condom distribution & usage; to reduce incidents of STIs; to promote treatment of STIs; to lessen STD, HIV/AIDS prevalence; increasing safe sex behaviors and health seeking behaviors And identified people refereed to the ICTC for the testing. And other awareness activities like video show, road show, Falk show, Focus group discussion.
2.Roof rain water harvesting Structure:
We are implementing Roof rain water harvesting structures programme at the Vaghnagar and Talgajarda village of coastal Mahuva block of Bhavnagar district. We had received the fund of Rs. 9, 50,000 for construction of Roof Rain water harvesting. This project has active participation of the beneficiaries at village level.
We had successfully completed 25 RRWHS in the Talgajarda and Vaghnagar village of Mahuva block of Bhavnagar district in the year 2009-2010.
3.Sector Reform Scheme (WASMO):
With the collaboration of Water & Sanitation Management Organization- Gandhinagar, We are implementing Sector Reform (State) Scheme as an Implementation Support Agency in the 30 villages of Amreli & Lathi Block of Amreli District and 15 villages of Una and Kodinar block of Junagadh district. The Technical Activities of Water resources like Water Tank, Sump, Pipeline Connection, Stand Post, and Renovation of Bore well, Cattle through, Pumping Machinery.
4. Bio-gas Plant:
Most households use cow-dung cakes or agricultural wastes as household cooking fuel. The smoke from burning these fuels is a health hazard, especially for women who spend most of their time in the kitchen. Biogas is derived from dung using simple, inexpensive methods. Not only is biogas a safer and more efficient fuel, but also its residue makes a better organic fertilizer than fresh cow dung. A biogas plant has been set up in a village to create awareness of the benefits of biogas and to encourage wider adoption of this proven technology.
5. Watershed Development Project:
Check dam, well-recharging, percolation tanks, waste weirs, Nala plug. Since all activities related to water resources Development are being implemented by the village level committees of the villagers in which women have more than one-third person representation, VSK’s roll is only that of a facilitator and consultant. In the watershed Project in the AKALA Village of Lathi block, the management of the village level work of the Watershed Project of committee level work of structures and other village level activities.
6. Bal Urja Rakshak Dal (BURD):BURD (Bal Urja Rakshak Dal) programme which is supported by Gujarat Energy Development Agenecy-Gabdhinagar. The progrmme is implemented in the 90 highschool and 90 primary school of all over block of Amreli district. The purpose for the programme is to spread awareness on energy conservation.
