PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01  EXAMINATION

A.  Inspect products before installation

B.  Product shall be free of any cosmetic defects or damage.

3.02  PREPARATION

A.  Product shall be mounted on a properly prepared surface adequate for the size and weight of product. The placement of the unit shall allow provision for cable installation and maintenance as indicated on the approved detail drawings and in compliance with the manufacturer’s recommended procedure.

3.03  INSTALLATION

A.  Install product as indicated on the approved detail drawings and in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended procedure.

B.  Ensure unit is installed in a well-ventilated, dust-free environment.

C.  Unit is designed for indoor use only.

D.  Keep all liquids away from the Digital Video Encoder .

E.  Ensure environmental conditions meet factory specifications.

F.  Ensure unit is properly secured to a rack or shelf. Major shocks or jolts to the unit as a result of dropping it may cause damage to the sensitive electronics within the unit.

G.  Use the Digital Video Encoder in conjunction with an UPS if possible.

H.  Power down the unit before connecting and disconnecting accessories and peripherals.

I.  A manufacturer recommended HDD should be used for this device.

3.04  TESTING

A.  Verify that the Digital Video Encoder is powered in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.

B.  Verify that all cables (power and coaxial) are properly and securely connected.

C.  Review video on attached monitors and Client Workstations as applicable.

3.05  CLEANING

A.  Clean Digital Video Encoder in accordance with manufacturer recommended procedures.

B.  Remove all scraps and debris.

3.06  MAINTENANCE

A.  Verify Digital Video Encoder are correctly connected and all connections are secure.

B.  In the event of improper video signal at head-end equipment location, repeat Testing procedure above.
