SummerSalt is a high-energy youth camp sponsored by the Youth Ministry Group of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Thousands of students and leaders attend SummerSalt each summer. Please pray through the application! By submitting this application, you will be considered available for all necessary dates and responsibilities.

Application Procedure

1.  Complete one copy of the application and submit it with one recent photograph suitable for publication (head and shoulder pose). Application should be received in the Youth Ministry office by December 2, 2013. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED ELECTRONICALLY. Problems with email do occur. An email confirmation receipt of your application will be sent to you. Please keep a copy of your application for your records in case the original is lost or damaged.

2.  You are responsible for getting the four reference letters to your references (Also due by Dec. 2). They are downloadable at www.ystuff.org . The persons filling out the reference letters should return it to our office. They must be separate from the application. Our office must receive all four letters of reference for you to be considered for staff (Remember, these are also due Dec. 2).

PLEASE NOTE: Staff is expected to participate in all Staff training and all weeks of Camp. We take the two weeks of training and five weeks of camp very seriously. Best friend’s wedding or graduation (except yours or a member of your immediate family) is not acceptable reasons to miss any part of SummerSalt. SummerSalt is not officially over until the Sunday, July 26, following the last week of camp. Leaving early is not acceptable.

Staff responsibilities include being a Bible study/Recreation Group Leader and teaching a personal interest class (PIC). All staff are part of “Staff Infection” (a light hearted production introducing the staff). All staff participates in worship, celebration services, fellowships, and overall camp programs according to abilities (music, drama, skits, etc.) and need.

Staff responsibilities do not include in-room, overnight chaperone duties. Each church provides overnight chaperones.

C O M P E N S A T I O N

Beginning salary for all training and camp weeks is $215.00. Returning staff will receive an additional $5.00 for each year on staff. Those having graduated college will also receive an additional $5.00 per week. The Youth Ministry Group will pay for all room and board during the weeks of training and camp.

Pay will be every. Proof of medical insurance must be provided by each staff member. Insurance provided by the SCBC is secondary and limited to $750.00.
