Elevators Inspections are going fully electronic
Elevator inspections are going fully electronic by using the latest technology and MiFi High Speed mobile data devices. MiFi is a small portable wireless tool that gives you a wireless connection wherever you are. Inspectors are now able to access historical data, perform and report inspection results in real time from the field utilizing an application developed in-house.
Each elevator site will be provided with the latest QR (Quick Response) code technology. Using tablet computers, inspectors will scan the QR code to obtain inspection information and using state-of-the-art voice recognition technologies report the findings, eliminating current field manual data entry by inspectors on paper forms which must then be entered into the elevator database by office staff. Further, the completed inspection can be immediately emailed to the customer and the elevator service company, replacing paper notification.
The County was able to eliminate the need for one full-time temporary position, plus free up another full-time position to focus on other program priorities, such as compliance assistance and enforcement.
Broward County’s ePermit initiative is a collaborative effort utilizing the expertise of County, municipal and business resources to streamline and digitize the permit and inspection process. These improvements serve to move permitting and inspection services into a more efficient, accurate, productive and customer centric environment. /
