Job Description:

The Vice President/Controller will be responsible for all financial matters for our corporate and operating entities, will report to and work closely with the Company’s President, be a part of the senior management team and partner with them to develop and implement strategies and systems across the organization.​

Job Responsibilities:

• Key member of senior management team providing strategic analysis and guidance.
• Responsible for the accuracy of all financial systems and reporting.
• Produce budgets and forecasts and provide analysis.
• Ensure company maintains accounting records according to GAAP standards.
• Perform the necessary internal audit checks to maintain accuracy in financial reporting.
• Implement and maintain proper internal controls to ensure proper risk management.
• Ensure month-end closing and the preparation of various tax schedules, reports, and otherinformation are accurate and completed timely.
• Assist with reviewing or implementing loss prevention policies and practices throughout the business, including in the retail stores and the components plant.
• Ensure the correct accounts payable and receivable practices are in place and the proper end of month cutoffs are practiced.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10 to 15 years financial management experience in positions of increasing responsibility in successful environments where growth and cost control were characteristics of the business.
  • Previous experience as a VP - CONTROLLER (or broad range of senior financial roles) for a retailer with a strong consumer focus. Some experience in a B2B, wholesale or co-operative business model is a plus.
  • MBA or Big Five Accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, and with accounting software, preferably Great Plains.
  • A working knowledge of business ERP systems; experience with Epicor/Bistrack is preferred.
  • Strong corporate financial skills and functional expertise in planning, business analysis, business systems, and strategic planningas well as in establishing and maintaining a strong system of internal controls.
  • Operational accounting experience and proven success developing financial systems and processes.
  • Outstanding management skills, including the ability to develop, mentor and establish trust, as well as a proven ability to build, lead and motivate a best-in-class accounting and financial management and analysis team.
  • A track record of having worked as a key advisor to senior management on a variety of business issues and have a well-grounded understanding of managing to growth and profitability in a multi-unit business model.
  • Excellent communication skills, which include being a good listener and having strong presentation skills.
  • Sound judgment with the ability to make decisions and present recommendations with clarity and conviction.
