I am a hard working individual with good translation, subtitling and interpreting skills, currently expanding my network of clients. I am highly organized and efficient. I already work as a freelancer, andin August 2016, I finished a 3 month internship as Project Manager Assistant for the translation company Global Voices, andI also worked as a volunteer for the University of Essex, subtitling some promotional material, and as an assistant, being trained for academic teaching, while I was attending my second MA in Translation, Interpreting and Subtitling. My language pair is English-Italian and French-Italian.

Attendance of an intensive language program called "Study China" at Beijing Normal University, after winning a scholarship granted by the University of Manchester. The intensive course focused on studying Chinese while attending seminars aiming at starting a business in China.

Academic teaching trainee at the University of Essex

I embarked on a training process at the University of Essex in order to get more experience in the academic world, learning how the marking criteria works, the aspect to focus on during a test revision and understanding the type and gravity of mistakes made by students. I therefore have eye for details and I am a skilled proofreader and linguist.

Subtitler for the University of Essex

I offered as a volunteer forsubtitling projects concerning promotional material for the University. I was in charge of subtitling and revising the material. I am a proficient user of Wincaps Quantum and VisualSubSync.

Translator and proofreader for the University of East Anglia

(March 2017)

I have recently taken part in a translation project involving the University of East Anglia. I was asked to translate an insurance text from English into Italian and to proofread the material provided by another translator.

Italian language mentor at the University of Essex

(November 2016-March 2017)

I have been working as a language mentor for a group of three students, being part of a program created by the University of Essex. As a mother tongue speaker I helped them develop and improve their oral skills and pronunciation, as well as grammar and lexis.

Project Manager Assistant

At the end of May 2016 I started a 3 month internship at the translation and interpreting company Global Voices. I was in charge of the proofreading and editing of the translation projects. Part of my job was also to allocate them to specific qualified linguists. I was also assigned some transcription projects in English and Italian and I am now still collaborating with this company as a freelance translator.

Lecturer

In May 2016 I was chosen as a lecturer during a HOME seminar in Amiens (France) organised by the GAS group to deliver a lecture about EU laws in matter of immigration and asylum, analysing the Dublin III Regulation and other legal EU texts using a Critical Discourse Analysis and reformulation approach.

Freelance Translator

(2012-Present)

Since 2012 I have been translating as a freelancer, dealing with different types of texts, including interviews, business emails and contracts, ebooks (Mr Longarm by SimonettaPalamà), websites (Torre Castiglione Camping, AlbergodeiSapori), and menus (Charlot, Arte Bianca). I also worked for five months as intern and translator for the onlus Translators4children, dealing with the creation of bilingual medical databases. I am therefore experienced in medical translation.

Journalist for the web magazine “Daninseries”

(2014- Present)

Since 2014 I have been writing three articles per week for a famous Italian web magazine, occasionally translating interviews and video from English into Italian.

I am a clothing designer and a tailor; from 2009 to 2014 I took singingand guitar classes. I am also a makeup artist and I took part in a makeup workshop focusing on prosthesis run by Francesco Sanseverino; I am also an archer.
