Civil War—April 12, 1861 to April 9, 1865

When Pres. Lincoln called for 75,000 troops to put down the rebellion on April 15, 1861, Ladoga and Montgomery County immediately responded. The first company of100 men to leave the County were Ladoga volunteers who left on April 18th. 2,000 volunteers eventually left Montgomery County, with at least 150 being from Ladoga. Of theLadoga volunteers, 4 were killed or mortally wounded, 16 died of disease. 4 deserted, 21 were discharged and 51 mustered out at the end of the war. Seventy-nine Civil War veterans are buried at the Ladoga Cemetery, with fifty-nine being Union and twenty being Confederate. The Confederates will be labeled CSA (Confederate States of America).

The ones not labeled are Union. Those marked with an asterisk died in the war.
