Vermilion Minor Hockey Board Meeting Minutes
January 11, 2016
In attendance: Shaun Cadrain, Heather Oddan, Sarah Squires, Mike Krips, Anita Horpestad, Ken Myshak, Leslie Carlson, Sarah Howe, Sandi Katuski, Shauna Zack, Leanne Lupul, Kim Thompson, Lisa Rochford, David Eremko, Jessica Heinrich, Tara Garnier
1. Call to Order: 7:07 pm by Lisa
2. Approval of Agenda: No Additions or deletions. Moved by Shaun, seconded by Dave, all in favor
3. Approval of minutes: Previous minutes were reviewed and moved by Leanne, seconded by Lisa, all in favor

a) President Report
- Sock issue still on going.
- Dave suggested we amend the handbook with a defined picture of the VMHA Tiger uniform.
- Kim made the motions to bring the uniform issue to the general spring meeting, do all VMHA players wear the socks? Does VMHA supply them with an increase in the registration fees? If the uniform protocol is not followed what will the disciplinary action be? Seconded by Heather, all in favor
b) VP of Development Report
- Dave wanted to know if there was anything we specifically needed for player development.
- Division development has been ok with teams overall skill improving
- Discussion on having an all-girls 3v3 or an all-girl tournament either at the beginning of the season or at the end.
- Dave made the suggestion of having structured pre-season developmental sessions for all VMHA players. This could include on ice training as well as off ice, which could include nutrition, team bonding, sports psychology, team and individual respect etc. There was discussion about not opening preseason development to all players but rather registering and perhaps charging a nominal fee. This would insure that those wanting to be there would be there as feedback from the start of the season this year was that people did not feel that being mandatory was beneficial.

c) VP of Business Report
- Kim reported that the concession is $4700 ahead of last year at this time.
- Kim will come up with a protocol for signing up for booth shifts and not leaving it till last minute.

e) Registrar Report
- All Team rosters have been approved by Hockey Alberta
- Tax receipts are complete and will be emailed out soon
f) Discipline Coordinator Report
- Nothing too major a few things need to be looked into but overall its going good.
- Feedback had been provided that some initiation age players were practicing or playing with the novice teams, clarification is requested.
g) Fundraiser Report
- Nothing to report
h) Team Accounts Report
Account Balances as of December 31, 2015
· Team Account $41,759.55
· Tiger Development $6990.11
- Can the directors please get their tournament cheques handed into Leslie at least a week before their tournament, to insure they are cashed in the event a team backs out.
- Everything but $8000 gets transferred into Tiger Pride at the end of each year

- Has been posting the sign up sheets 2 weeks in advance.

- Tournament is full and all teams are paid up
· Novice (Heather Oddan)
- Tournament is full and all teams are paid up
· Atom (Sarah Squires)
- Scotiabank donation is taking longer due to new management
- Order the same plaques as last year for the Gary Ferbey Awards
· Peewee (Susie Georget)
- Tournament went good
- One peewee team does not want to go to provincials, as they would prefer to go to a tournament. This was never communicated and the team was registered in provincials.
· Female Atom/Peewee (Mike Krips)
- Pomeroy hotel will be open for the girls tournament
- Everything is ready for the tournament
· Bantam (Shauna Zack)
- All good
· Midget (Ken Myshak)
- Both the midget Tier 3 goalies are hurt so Ken is looking into getting a goalie released from Mannville to play with VMHA, the deadline is Feb 10.
- Reminded the players and their parents of the VMHA uniform….again
· Female Bantam/Midget (Jessica Heinrich)
- Both teams are going to provincials
- Midget girls have 3 more games
- Bantam girls have 9 more games
m) Coach Mentor Report

6. Open Forum:
a) NEAHL Meetings
- Discussed if and when they hold meetings and why we haven’t been informed of any meetings. Why is there no feedback from NEAHL. Should we approach other associations and work together to see if we are the only association feeling that NEAHL is not working with us.
b) Minor Hockey Week
- It is the week of Jan. 17-24
- Mrs. Rutt is running it again this year
