VERKA: Compiling a portfolio
The submission at the end of the year should amongst others include the following:
1Table of contents.
2Personal philosophy regarding teaching-learning, personal objective with teaching-learning.
3Motivation/reasons why you think a VERKA award for excellent teaching-and-learning should be awarded to you. Amongst others, describe your innovative contribution to the development of your students’ learning environment, as well as your contribution to the development of a module(s) / programme(s). You can explain here which academic support your students have, if applicable.
4Student assessment of teaching-learning. (Processed score(s) and signed by the school director.) Describe the feedback given to students in response to the result of the assessment.
5Short description of your task agreement regarding teaching-learning in your school (e.g., writing and development of study guides, presentation of classes etc.). Provide a list of the modules which you present, as well as the number of students per module which you facilitate.
6Study guide of every module being presented. (Give an indication of your share in / involvement with the development of each study guide.) If you did not develop the study guide, give an assessment of the guide and explain how you would improve the study guide if necessary.
7Explanation of how your students’ participation mark is compiled, with examples of, for instance, class tests and memoranda, semester tests and memoranda, assignments, tasks / projects and marking schemes. Explain and motivate the use of appropriate assessment techniques to test whether outcomes have been achieved.
8Most recent examination papers and memoranda of each module being presented (at least 2 examples of each.)
9Statistics of assessment marks for each module being presented (computer printout as obtained from the student information system).
10Selected examples of appropriate teaching media.
11All prescribed study material.
12Examples of students’ work and feedback being given.
