Kildare County Council Arts Service Awards 2017

Artistic Entrepreneur Bursary 2017 in partnership with North Kildare Chamber of Commerce

The Artistic Entrepreneur Bursary aims to support the initiation or development of an artistic business based in Kildare. The seed funding (€1500) may act as a catalyst for an artist to develop their business idea or for a fledgling arts business to expand. The recipient will also receive significant support from North Kildare Chamber of Commerce.

This support will include:

·  Complimentary chamber membership for 2017

·  A free desk in the Chamber of Commerce IHub in for 3 months. The I hub is for start-up businesses where the person/company can avail of offices/boardroom and training facilities as well as high speed broadband and support through a mentoring programme

This bursary is aimed at artists who wish to start a new business or those who have set up an arts business in the past 12 months.

CONDITIONS

1.  Applications will be accepted on the official application form only.

2.  All support material to be no larger than A4. The independent adjudication panel will not assess support material larger than A4.

3.  Individual artists, art groups, and community projects from Co Kildare may apply for the Artistic Entrepreneur Bursary.

4.  Assistance will be restricted to “the arts” as defined in the Arts Act 2003. ‘Arts’ means any creative or interpretative expression (whether traditional or contemporary) in whatever form, and includes, in particular, visual arts, theatre, literature, music, dance, opera, film, circus and architecture, and includes any medium when used for those purposes

5.  All recipients of grant assistance under the Arts Act Grant Scheme for projects involving children or young people must have appropriate policies in place as regards Child Protection. Kildare County Council Arts Service will also require confirmation that the appropriate insurance policies and Health and Safety Procedures are in place.

6.  Grant aid provided by Kildare County Council must be acknowledged in all publicity material associated with the project. Council logos are available from the Arts Service. Kildare County Council reserves the right to publicise the awarding of the Arts Act Grants. Failure to acknowledge Kildare County Council appropriately may deem the grant invalid and grant aid received may need to be refunded to Kildare County Council. All successful applications will receive a copy of Kildare County Council logos, along with the document ‘Requirements for acknowledging Kildare County Council funding’ via email. Please include a valid email address in your application.

7.  Successful candidates are required to provide a short written report / update to the arts service on or before 31st October 2017, whether the project has been completed or not. Failure to do so may deem the grant invalid and grant aid received may need to be refunded to Kildare County Council.

8.  Awards will be made by an independent adjudication panel

9.  All applicants will be advised of Councils decisions in writing.

10. The payment of a grant is not taken as an indication that the equivalent of any grant will be made to the organiser on another occasion.

11. Applications for assistance should be made on the official application form including

i.  A description of the proposed business.

ii. A declaration of other grants or other assistance received or sought.

iii.  Budget outline.

iv.  3 year business plan

v.  Supporting material, no larger than A4 (e.g. from previous productions, shows, exhibitions etc. with dates, venues, CV of artist, or profile of organisers, photographs)
