Dear Parents:

We are so excited to see all the talented acts in our 2017 Variety Show. "Old School" will be a living history lesson of the decades from 1950's to present, and highlight our students and their creativity and spirit. If your child is participating in an Independent act, here is some information that might help you as the parent sponsor:

Notification: We will notify you by December 15th if your child's act has been accepted into the Variety Show without change. All acts must be 2 minutes or less, as we do our best to keep the show at 60 minutes.

Rehearsal Times: Rehearsals are from January - March and will be held in the OES auditorium. Independent acts will have several rehearsals a month to practice on the stage for 10-15 minutes. If you are not able to attend our scheduled rehearsals, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can find alternative time. Most rehearsing should be done at home with the help of a parent sponsor!

The following rehearsal dates are mandatory for ALL performers:

Monday, March 13th- Run-through- 4-6 PM

Tuesday, March 14th- First Half Dress Rehearsal- 4-6 PM

Wednesday, March 15th- Second Half Dress Rehearsal 4-6 PM

Thursday and Friday, March 16th and 17th- Daytime assemblies and 7 PM Show for family and friends! You must be present at both evening performances!

Rehearsal Drop Off and Pick Up: In an effort to offer varied rehearsal times, we will be holding rehearsals before and after school this year. Children should be dropped off/picked up in the auditorium and signed in/out on the clip board at the stage. Please be on time for rehearsals and pick ups, and also let us know if your child is to be picked up from or returned to SACC.

Parent Help: We are looking for one parent who is available to greet students in the auditorium on Tuesdays at 4 PM, and supervise them until Miss Brown arrives. We will also be looking for lots of parent help with Dress Rehearsals and Backstage for our shows. More info to come!

Student Responsibility: 1. Know your song/skit/act. 2 Be at rehearsals and show on time. 3. Be respectful of director, school rules and other performers at all times.

Parent Responsibility: What does a parent sponsor do? 1. Communicate schedules and coordinate extra rehearsals for members of the group. 2. Get the director a copy of script/music by February 17th! 3. Be sure that all members are at rehearsals on time and prepared. 4. Set times for your act to practice at home. 5. Make sure all members of your group are picked up after rehearsals on time. 6. Notify us if any members of your group are not able to attend rehearsals. 7. Assist at rehearsals and backstage as needed.

8. Inform your group members' teachers when the children have rehearsals after school. 9. Coordinate costumes for the group.

Look forward to a wonderful show! Kristyn Woldow- 703-615-9263
