Operation Supervisor

DEPARTMENT:Public Transit

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Supervise all Transit Drivers and the Mechanic

Hiring, Training, Monitoring and Reviewing Employee Performances

Monitoring Vehicle Maintenance

Record keeping, including statistics required by Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)

Monitoring of fuel and waste oil

Supervise the upkeep of the facility and grounds

Monitor Driver and Mechanic attendance, schedules and assignments

Conduct operational planning and monitor overall coordination of Maintenance/Driver operations
activities

Assist in scheduling and record keeping, report of Federal Transportation Administration Drug and Alcohol testing requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent experience in applicable discipline with Supervisor/Managerial
experience

Must have valid driver’s license and exemplary driving record

Must possess or acquire a Class C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P)
endorsement within 60 days of hire

Ability to operate a computer and related software, and ability to operate general office machines

Strong knowledge of transit operational and vehicle practices, procedures, regulation, laws

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed under the direction of the Public Transit Director

Work is performed in an office environment, with occasional exposure to adverse environmental
conditions when performing road supervision of drivers

Ability to lift/carry up to and in excess of 25 lbs.

Ability to work varying shifts as necessary to monitor all employees 6:00AM to 8:00PM

Under the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Regulations, this position is a Safety-Sensitive position
and included in the drug and alcohol testing pool, and is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-
accident testing for drugs and alcohol.
