Behaviours Required______

Values and Beliefs

We believe in the unique worth of every person and are committed to providing a confidential service based on respect and trust, which encourages our clients to realise their potential and fulfil their goals.

Genesis expects all of its members of staff to work in a way which upholds and positively reinforces its five values:-

Uniqueness

Genesis is a relatively small, locally based organisation. We are the only specialist organisation working locally with our client group and have strong links with national networks supporting the development of our services. This means that we are well positioned as advocates for this client group to ensure that their individual needs are listened to and addressed. We also value the unique services that other organisations can offer and welcome partnerships that can compliment our service provision and encourage a more holistic package of support.

Commitment

Genesis began in 1989 because of a real passion within the community to provide a service to a group of women who were seen to be marginalized and extremely vulnerable. Despite challenges along the way it has continued to improve its support to this client group and remains determined to continue to provide the best possible services to our clients.

Respect

Genesis is fully aware of the individual nature of our clients' situations, and understands that what may work for one individual will not necessarily work for another. We work alongside individuals with whatever their expressed needs and respect their choices in the support options available.

Trust

Genesis understands the many reasons why our clients can struggle to engage with other services. We understand that trust is the foundation of a supportive relationship and strive to ensure that our clients feel welcomed, safe and have confidence in the services we offer.

Making a Difference

Genesis believes in the potential within all of its clients and the amazing possibilities when individuals are empowered and free to make their own choices. We have worked with many women and young people along the way who have continually reinforced this belief and been a constant source of inspiration. We also want to make a difference within the wider community by challenging negative stereotypes and attitudes towards our client group.

In order to reinforce these values the following behaviours are expected of every employee within the organisation:-

Value / Demonstrable Behaviours
Uniqueness / Innovation – To be able to ‘take initiative’ and ‘think creatively’ in order to encourage fresh ideas and alternative ways of working that contribute to moving things forward for both clients and organisational development.
Adaptability – to embrace change and the opportunity to continuously extend and improve personal development and service provision towards the realisation of the Genesis Vision and Values.
Commitment / Aspiration – to have a personal desire to positively influence the opportunities and chances available to our clients and improve
understanding within the wider community.
Passion - to be fully committed to the work and ethos of Genesis
and to the client groups that we work with, by fully engaging with
and promoting the goals of the organisation at all times.
Respect / Good Communication – a commitment to communicate in a
courteous and considerate manner with everyone involved in the
delivery and receipt of our services. To feel able to share views,
feelings and information, both positive and less positive, with
others in a way that promotes the values of Genesis and upholds
the reputation of the organisation at all times.
Equitable – to behave in an impartial and reasonable way, which
encourages inclusion and celebrates diversity in everything that we
do.
Trust / Relationship Building - the work of Genesis is built on a number of relationships, which require all parties to work together in order to create something that is good. This requires that all our relationships with each other, with clients, stakeholders, partners, other services and colleagues are positive, supportive, co-operative and respectful.
Accessible – it is the responsibility of all employees to ensure that access to Genesis’ services is as straight-forward and inclusive as possible, with a commitment to providing up-to-date and clear information on all aspects of service provision.
Making a Difference / Determination – to continuously support clients to believe in what can be achieved, by challenging self-limiting beliefs and helping to build motivation, personal development and aspirational expectations.
High Expectations – to expect the best for ourselves, and for the clients of Genesis, and to raise and address any issues or areas of concern, whether they arise in-house or in an external setting.
