VACANCY – NAVAL GUNS SUPPORT ENGINEER
(INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)

Perform engineering support on the Naval Guns to ensure that all work as contracted through the Support Contract is executed. The candidate shall work closely with the Chief Engineer/Project Manager Naval Guns as understudy to take over full responsibility when the Chief Engineer goes on retirement.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
SCHEDULE, PLAN AND EXECUTE ALL RELEVANT NAVAL GUNS SUPPORT TASKS:
- Support Chief Naval Guns Engineer in planning and execution of tasks as contracted through Support Contract.
- Provide support to Programme Manager with regards to technical issues.
- Attend Technical Committees, Programme Meetings and customer work sessions as required
- Provide sound technical recommendations and solutions to discussions
- Monitor performance of support equipment and Naval Guns and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Investigate Obsolescence problems and provide mitigation actions.
- Register CR’s for proposed changes.
- Perform investigations as required and tasked by Chief Engineer.
- Provide physical support on Naval Guns and Equipment as required.
- Co-ordinate upgrade programmes and retrofits of equipment as required.
- Establish process for capturing of Failure and Repair data for Naval Equipment.
- Compile monthly Failure and Repair reports and submit to Project/Programme manager.
- Liaise with Supply chain and Suppliers to ensure timeous delivery of Spares
- Schedule acceptance of spares with BE and Armscor QA.
- Support Project/Programme Manager with proposals for support tasks, system upgrades, spares requirements and other support related proposals
- Ensure technical correctness of Naval BOMs and MRI’s.
- Apply all applicable Denel and DLS Policies, Procedures and Work including Denel
CRITICAL SKILLS
- B Eng Degree
- Extensive mechanical development and engineering competencies.
- Technical Skills
- Problem solving, Risk Analysis and management skills.
- System integration, functional testing, fault finding and support.
- People management skills:
- Ability to lead technical personnel
- Good communication and motivation skills
- Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with team members.
- Computer literate: MS Office Suite of Applications and other applicable engineering software required to execute the job e.g. CREO, AutoCAD, etc.
- QMUZIK In-depth Knowledge of Product Structures, Part Masters, ERP etc.

- 5 - 10 Years’ experience Mechanical Design
- 1 – 5 Years’ experience on Rapid fire Guns
