WHERE DO THESE FIT IN WITH STEPHEN STADLER/STATLER?
ABRAHAM STATLER
Fr "Charles Statler" 14 Sep 2001 -"Statler cemetery is listed at the Statler web site, as well as many of the names under family histories. I am a descendent of Abraham Statler who was in Roanoke area/Loudoun co VA. There is info on Stephen Statler (Stradler) on Statler web PG states Stephen had children John, Stephen, Michael, George, Catherine, Jacob and Joseph. My Abraham b mid 1700's d 1813 record states Stephen (old) lived Hampshire Co VA. Co now part of WV. Hampshire Co also part of Loudoun Co VA. I think Stephen/Abraham could be bro's and sons of John Statler. Usually first b son named for husband’s father. My Abraham's children's names: John, Jacob, Abraham, Elizabeth, and Catherine. Note the similarity bet names. Plane in PA crashed less than 15mi fr Statler Cem at Reels Corner. This cem is final resting-place of Casper Statler and family members. There approx 50-70 people buried in a quiet spot off an unmarked road." Charles S

Sandra Jones Hall 1-14-2003-There are stories in many families about brothers usually three, who came from Europe. Does it happen that way? Sometimes, much more often, a nuclear family (father, mother and children) emigrate along with other relatives, in-laws, and fellow church members and neighbors. Some of the passenger lists show Statler/Stettler/Stadler men coming as single men. In my Statler research I have found "the brother" story associated with the group of Statlers from Loudoun County, VA. In actuality the father of the brothers was there. The father was Abraham, sons John, Jacob and Abraham. The family connections of the various Statler families is something I have been researching a long time. I have looked at the names of neighbors in America and and others on the same ship. I have found the different groups occasionally associated with some of the same surnames, but not enough to make a connection back to Europe. I have mapped out the towns in Europe from which the known neighbors and in-law emigrated, It looks like a map of the RhineValley: From around Mannheim up the river to Canton Bern, Switzerland about thirty mile either side of the river. Currently that land is in three countries, Germany, France, and Switzerland.Hard to zone in on that.

Hi, Nena! Kiti has made wonders afain, the Switzerland Tourist Authorities have answered.

ADAM STATLER
From what I've been told, my ancestor that "hopped the pond", Johan Adam Stader, came to America to avoid the persecution from being involved in the Antibaptist movement... I guess that would be enough incentive to overcome any fear of crossing the ocean blue... David
Is anyone working on the Statlers in early Kansas.I am hunting am Adam Statler and Jan Cromer Statler who left Ohio in early 1860/70's and were reported to have been there when her mother applied for 1812 pension in 1879. Carrol Ann

I am a descendant of Casper Statler m. Rebecca Walter through their daughter Mary Statler m. John Lambert. Their son, Samuel Lambert (1790-1869) m. Sarah Good(1796-1861). Does anyone have the names of Sarah Good's parents or siblings? Elaine - .
My mother was a Statler, a descendant of Casper Statler of Somerset County, Pennsylvania. When I published the Statler/Stetler/Stotler Newsletter in 1986 and 1987, I set up 17 Groups based on their residence in the 1790 census. I had not yet been able to firmly connect any of those Groups, nor had I traced any Group back to Europe. When I learned about Y-Chromosome DNA testing, I saw that as having very good potential to help trace these families back in time by linking various Groups.

I also have that they had a son named Samuel who married Ethel Goughnour.I have also been to the Statler Cemetery but didn't record many tombstone.I do have a picture of Casper's but I can't read it. A transcription I have says 18 August 1743 to 12 April 1798. I can see my picture of Samuel's stone and it does say son of Jasper. The transcription I have says son of Joseph. Dates for Samuel Jan. 15, 1776 to May 17, 1860 There is another transcription online at:
spelling>When working on genealogy, a shift of thinking about spelling really helps. Spelling really varies, if you look at the transcription of the cemetery you will see Statler, Stetler and Stotler. All the same family. CASPER is the usual German spelling. Jasper is the English translation,in some records it is Gasper the French version. And most puzzling it is sometime Joseph, which I believe was a guess at an English translation. That spelling is especially associated with Casper's father-in-law Casper Walter. In the first Newletter I published March 1986 page 3, I go into more detail onspelling.

ANDREW-SON OF SAMUEL-SON OF CASPER/JASPER
My great grandfather was Andrew Statler. His second wife was Eleanora Ling ( aka Ellen, or Elinora--- note: Eleanora is the spelling on her tombstone ). They had one child, my grandmother Lola (Statler) Chapman. Lola and her mother Eleanora were survivors of the 1889 Johnstown, Pa flood. My mother took me to the Statler cemetery in Shade Twp. Somerset Co.Pa.about 1946. I am in two pictures that were taken of tombstones there. The one is of Andrew's headstone and states that he died July 27, 1881 at the age of 65yrs 4 ms & 17 days. Which agrees with March 10, 1816 as date of birth. I see Andrew's first wife listed as Sophia Garber, but I have another unconfirmed name of Sophia Sorber as his first wife. Any help here? Now here is the item of interest. The second photo, per my mother, is the headstone of my GG grandfather Samuel Statler. It states very clearly: "Samuel son of Jasper"( NOT Casper) Statler. The years are hard to read but the month and days are readable. b. Jan 15, (177? the last number isn't clear but it looks like it is 1778) d. July 17, 18?? ( it looks like it is 1869 ). If 1869 and 1778 that would have made him 91???? The question is: Was there a Jasper or was the headstone wrong and it should have said Casper? Any thoughts on Jasper or confirmation of the dates?
Jack
Fr 1-9-2003-children of Samuel who died 1804 are Jacob and Henry. Jacob was listed as orphan in will and Henry was born 1802 and died after 1850. He married Kesiah Ferrell. I am trying to figure out who the father of Samuel(died 1804) was, I believe he is a brother to Casper and Rudy and therefore they have the same father. No proof as of yet. My lines is Samuel Statler 1804 and the Emanuel you thought was his son is not his.By doing the math we can see the Emanuel you mention was born after 1804 when my Samuel did indeed die.I think my Emanuel may be the one married to Lydia Taylor and lived Bedford Cty. He died 1879 and was born 1798. Does anyone have any idea what happened to Jacob Statler a son of Samuel and Mary or Henry married to Kesiah Ferrell. He was born 1802 and died after 1850. They lived Somerset Cty. at one time. Carrol
Fr ed, 15 Jan 2003-Anyone know of Henry Staler married to Kesiah Ferrell who was last known to be in 1850C in Somersett Cty., Pa? Also a Mary Statler widow of Samuel Statler who died 1804 in Franklin Cty Pa. They also had a son Jacob who moved to Berrien Cty Mich. He was age 79 and lived in NilesCity, Berrien Cty., Michigan in 1880 C. He was aged 79 at that time. Carrol Ann
Emanuel is not the son of Samuel d 1804, I believe he is the son of Henry and Kesiah Ferrell, they were in Brothers Valley Twp. Somerset County in the 1850 and there was a child Emanuel age 2 in the household. As for Jacob there is a Jacob Statler 79 born PA in the 1880 census in Berrien County Michigan. Carol: I wonder if we are of the same line. I have Grandfathers who carried the Jacob and Samuel names and I know we have relation in Ohio who spell their name Statler that I have lost contact with. We spell ours Stateler.Marva Stateler
fr: Could be, My Statlers lived in Richland Cty., Ohio and came from Franklin Cty. Pa. Samuel was their father and he married a Mary. He died in 1804. Sound familiar? Correction. The Statler you mention in Sacramento, California is my family and not the one you mentioned. He is mentioned in his Mother's will as having lived and died in the West. He left here with a group of men from our county to go seek their riches. He is the exact age mentioned in census you mentioned. We have never found where or when he died but I assume either a mining accident or from maybe a murder etc. I live in Ohio and we have quite a family here that came from Franklin Cty., Pa. Mainly Samuel Statler. We believe him to be a brother to Casper and Jacob as he is mentioned as witnesses for will. They all lived at the same place at one time. Iam willing to learn of how you came to determine that Lamuel lived in Illinois.

On rootsweb's WorldConnect I found they were married 10 Feb 1875 MIAMI, OH
This checks with marriage records I have.
This means that Frank is most probably a descendant of Christian Statler who came to Ohio in the early 1800s. All the Statlers in Miami Co appear to be descendants of Christian. If no one else can id your Frank you need to look at 1860 and 1870 censuses for Miami Co Ohio. If Frank died after 1900 a death certificate should name his parents. That should be available from the state in which he died. Sandy
Fr "Sharon Statler" <> Did Charles A. STATLER have a Son? 22 Jan 2003 To:
Dearest STATLER Cousins, I've been at the infamous "brick wall" with my STATLER ancestors for some time now. I've only been able to get as far as my ggGrandfather, Frank STATLER, b. 1852 in OH, and his wife Ella COLLINS STATLER. I checking out other STATLER lines that would have been born before him and see if one might lead me directly to him...
John STATLER b 1772 had a son Charles Augustus STATLER b. 1827 md Catherine AKE Jan 1852. Catherine AKE daughter of John AKE of Frederick Co MD. There are no children listed for them but, my ggGrandfather, Frank STATLER, was born "July 1852"!!! Could he be their son? He could have been born two months premature, or Catherine could have been"with child" two months prior to their marriage in January 1852. (Hey! It happened! *lol*)
I have Mary AKE md Peter PUTTERBAUGH Frederick Co MD so I know I'm related to this STATLER line, but not as directly through them, as I would like to be. I want to find that solid STATLER-to-STATLER connection.
Here's how my AKE-to-STATLER line comes out:
1 Peter PUTTERBAUGH, b. 1765, Frederick Co. MD
+ Mary AKE, b. 1775
2 John Ake PUTTERBAUGH, b. 15 May 1994, Huntingdon Co., PA
+ Mary Ann WISE, b. 12 Dec 1798, Huntingdon Co. PA
3 Sarah Ann PUTTERBAUGH, b. 29 Aug 1838, OH
+ Eli Hewue BOOMERSHINE b 28 Dec 1837, Versailles,Darke Co OH
4 Christina Jane BOOMERSHINE, b. 18 Mar 1864, Darke Co OH
+ Lewis C. REINHEIMER, b. IN
5 Florence Marie REINHEIMER b. 11 Feb ????
+ Clyde Franklin STATLER b 4 Sep1882 Oskaloosa Mahaska Co IA
(Clyde's father was Frank STATLER, b Jul 1852 mother, Ella COLLINS.)
Then my grandfather, Eugene Clayton STATLER and my father, Eugene Clayton STATLER, Jr., and myself. AKE came down through Clyde STATLER's Maternal line. But, because of the coincidence that Frank STATLER was born the very same year that Charles Augustus and Catherine were married, I have a feeling he just might be their son. I've been searching nearly 25 years!>Waiting patiently,>Sharon Statler
