1.  International Aspects of Educational and Research Activities

International cooperation is an integral part of the activity of USPTU. The main objective of the international activities is the generation of strategic and tactical solutions to enhance the University’s international prestige on the basis of the unity of educational, scientific and innovative activities in all divisions, the promotion of the University on the international market of educational services, scientific research and development.

Ufa State Petroleum Technological University supports steady connections with many scientific and educational centers throughout the world; it is a member of the International Association of Universities; it has cooperation agreements with foreign universities, companies and enterprises in the countries of Europe, Asia, CIS; it makes strenuous efforts to create a modern training system for foreign citizens and strengthen its position on the international market of educational services.

USPTU has been training international students for more than 30 years already. During this time, more than 1,000 foreign graduates have received the University’s diplomas, defended their PhD theses and have been suceesfuly employed in various fields of the oil and gas industry.

Currently, the University has 1258 international students from 52 countries. The share of international students studying at USPTU is 7.4%. This makes USPTU ranking among the top 30 universities of Russia.

The University’s international activity is developing in different directions: one of the leading areas is the provision of educational services to international students including the pre-university course, Bachelor’s, Master’s, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

Another dynamically developing direction is academic mobility of students and teachers. In the frames of the academic mobility programmes, USPTU accepts international students for short-term internships, semester training, included training, as well as the 2+3 training program, as a result of which the double diplomas of USPTU and a foreign partner university (Kazakhstan, China, France, Austria, Germany) are issued. USPTU also sends students to its foreign partner universities (Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Kazakhstan) for semester training, internships and practices within the academic mobility programmes.

Academic mobility of the teaching staff is being implemented on the basis of the “Invited Professors” programme according to which overseas professors are invited to USPTU to give lectures to students. The teachers of USPTU also visit foreign partner universities for lecturing.

Another very important direction of USPTU international activities is the employment of foreign professionals by the University:

the employment of foreign citizens - USPTU graduates within the programme of highly qualified personnel training (postgraduate training);

as the implementation of social support measures – in response to the modern geopolitical situation challenges, 4 compatriots – the citizens of Ukraine and former residents of the Donetsk region were employed).

At present, the University has 7 such staff members.

International cooperation in the field of science and technology is developing in two major directions - rendering of research and engineering services on request of overseas oil and gas companies (Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Iran) and joint research with foreign partner universities (Austria, China, Kazakhstan, Belarus) within the international grant programs of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation (Federal Target Program “Research and Development”) and the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (RFFR).
