- Click on “Classes.”
- Click on “System Administrator.”
- Click on “Teacher’s Name.”
- Child clicks on his name.
- Child clicks on assignment given by teacher. At our school, I assigned all skills to all students and allow the teacher to select one. Media specialists also add students.
- The child may need to stop working, but the computer will remember where the child was. This is called “bookmarking.”
All the child needs to do is select exit and it automatically bookmarks the place where he stopped.
- How does it work? In the language and math portions of Cornerstone, each lesson has four parts: warm-up, review, quiz, and Take Five (arcade-style activity where you use the skills you learned in the lesson). The warm-up assesses knowledge of skills in lesson and determines where additional practice is needed. If everything is correct in the warm-up, the review is skipped and the student goes directly to the quiz. The review presents the rules that the student missed in the warm-up. The quiz will test the student on the lesson. There are worksheets available on the various lessons. Thousands of audio and sound files guide students through every lesson.
- What kinds of reports are available? Some of the most useful are:
- Student Report-displays activity names, dates, raw scores, scores as a percent, and time spent on activities for an individual student.
- Parent Report- is a letter to a parent summarizing acitivity names, dates, scores as a percent, and time spent on activities.
- Profile Report uses bar graphs to show a student’s pretest, lesson, and posttest scores in each topic.
