Transcript for video file found at

The RMIT Research Repository provides free, searchable access to RMIT University's research publications. Research Repository aims to increase the exposure and impact of RMIT's research outputs by making publications widely available and searchable online.

This tutorial will review the Research Repository's features and how it can be accessed. We will also demonstrate how to find and link to unique publication records and individual author publication listings.

Access Research Repository

You can go directly to the Research Repository by using the URL researchbank.rmit.edu.au

Browse Research Repository

Thousands of records are added each year making Research Repository an increasingly comprehensive record of RMIT's research publications.

Older publications are progressively being added to the repository from RMIT’s central publications database. Recently published research is usually added within a few weeks of being reported to the Research and Innovation publications team.

The Research Repository stores detailed records and some electronic full text of books and book chapters, conference papers, journal articles and theses produced by current and past RMIT staff and students. Creative works will be added during 2011.

Publication records

Click on a publication title to view a detailed record. Each publication record has a unique URL. You can copy this URL to use in presentations, papers and emails.

Find a publication or list of publications by author

The best way to find your submitted publications is via the search tab.

Click on the Search tab at the top of the page then enter an authors surname in the "Author name" field. Click on the search button.

RMIT staff and student names are those in green. Click on the author you searched for to be taken to the author's individual record. This list shows all the authors' publications that have been recorded and transferred to the repository by the R&I publications team.

The URL at the top of the page is unique to the author. Use this to link to an author’s list of publications.

User statistics

At the bottom of each individual record you will find the Access Statistics, showing the number of abstract views or ‘hits’ on the record, as well as the number of downloads if a full-text copy of the publication is stored in the repository.

To view more user statistics click on Detailed Statistics.

Abstract and download statistics for each record are available by month, year or total downloads for the record. There are also statistics for abstract views and downloads by country.

Other interesting statistics are available such as the top 50 authors, the top papers and the most frequently visited records across the repository.
