USER GUIDE:PT300/Seaward PATGuard Elite Data Transfer:

This User Guide outlines the method used to transfer test results from the PT300 PAT Tester to the Seaward PATGuardElite Database. The process requires the PT300 to be configured to communicate via Bluetooth to the computer used to access the database. This User Guide assumes this set up has been pre-configured, however, details can be found in the PT300 User Manual, Section 12, Page 52.

1.Seaward PATGuard Elite Data Transfer Mode

1.1.With the PATGuard Elite software running on the PC that the PT300 is linked to via Bluetooth, select the Download function from the menu bar (See Figure 1.).

Figure 1. Seaward PATGuard Elite Menu Options

1.2.The system then lists the options available to configure the data transfer (See Figure 2.) including the source instrument, data file format and content. Additionally, the option to preview a tabulated version of the data can be selected.

1.3.Ensure the correct Test instrument is listed and that the Download to Database radio button is selected, then press OK.

2.PT300 Data Transfer Mode

2.1.Turn on the PT300 and once booted up, press Menu (F4) and select Data Transfer using the arrow keys on the tester. Select the first option, Download to PC, then press OK (F4) as shown in Figure 3 below. The PT300 will then attempt to connect via Bluetooth to the PC selected in the PT300 Bluetooth Favourites list.

2.2.Once connected, the number of test results ready to transfer is displayed.

2.3.To commence the data transfer, select Send (F4) on the PT300. As data is transferred, a progress bar is displayed on the PT300 and the amount of data transferred is displayed by the PATGuard Elite software.

3.Warning & Error Messages

3.1.Tested Location of asset does not match database record;

3.1.1.If any assets are tested in a different location to that listed in their database record, the following message is displayed by the PATGuard Elite software during the download;

Figure 5. PartGuard Elite asset location mismatch error

3.1.2.To update the database with the new location for that asset and consolidate all its test records in that new location, select Yes. If you wish to apply this to all instances in the assets being downloaded from the PT300, select Yes All.

3.1.3.If the location on the PT300 is incorrect and the item is still sited in the location listed in its database entry, select No. If you wish to apply this to all instances in the assets being downloaded fromthe PT300, select No All.

3.2.Duplicate Asset Record Identified;

3.2.1.During a download from the PT300, if an asset appears twice in the same downloadfile, PATGuard Elite will display the message shown in Figure 6.

Figure 6. Duplicate Asset Warning Message

3.2.2.Selecting Yesindicates that the second test on that item is a duplicateand a separate asset for the second test will be created and placedas a new asset in anew Duplicates site in the root of the database structure.If you wish to apply this to all instances in the assets being downloaded from the PT300, select Yes All.

3.2.3.Choosing No identifies that the second test on that appliance was carried out on the sameitem, and the second test should be recorded against that asset. Choosing thisoption will merge both tests together with the details recorded at the first test.If you wish to apply this to all instances in the assets being downloaded from the PT300, select No All.

3.2.4.If two assets need to be merged because they are in fact the same item (eg. a duplicate item is a second test of the same item), providingthey have the same asset Id, dragging the asset to the same site as the other willprovide the user with the option to merge the item into one – retaining the testinformation from both assets in the one location. Care must be taken to ensure that the correct assetdescription is retained.

3.3.Retest Period Mismatch

3.3.1.A retest period mismatch is indicated when;

  • the database already contains an asset without a retest period (usually due to a visual FAIL result) and a test result is downloaded for this asset which has a retest date, or
  • An asset is downloaded with two test results (the first being recorded as a visual FAIL result and the second as an electrical PASS,

3.3.2.Selecting Yes to the message displayed in Figure 7 will update the record to include the retest date.If you wish to apply this to all instances in the assets being downloaded fromthe PT300, select Yes All.

Figure 7. Retest Period Mismatch Error

3.3.3.Selecting No to the message displayed in Figure 7 will not include the retest date in the stored test record. If you wish to apply this to all instances in the assets being downloaded fromthe PT300, select No All.

4.Housekeeping

4.1.Once the data transfer is complete, the PATGuard Elite database software can be closed. However, before shutting down the PT300, select Esc to return to the PT300 home screen and undertake the following housekeeping tasks.

4.2.Once all data has been transferred successfully, the test records can be cleared from the PT300 flash memory. The Delete function, accessed from the Main Menu via the View Saved Data option, only deletes the reference to the stored data files. Instead of using this option, selectMemory Optionsfrom the Main Menu and then select Erase (see Figure 8.). This will delete the data records and any references to these files.

Figure 8. Erasing data files stored on the PT300

4.3.Once complete, the number of assets should be shown as “0”. This completes the Data transfer process.
