Use one circle for each of the following:

KNOWLEDGE (10 points)

Circle #1 – Write the title and the author of your book in the circle. Plan your lettering to use the ENTIRE space and be ATTRACTIVE.

Circle #2 – Write four (4) facts about the AUTHOR of your book. Use the Internet or other resources to find this information.

COMPREHENSION (15 points)

Circles #3, 4, & 5 – Write a summary of the book using complete sentences and paragraphs. Be sure to include the beginning, middle, and end.

APPLICATION (10 points)

Circle #6 – Draw a PICTURE or MAP of the setting of the story. Label it.

ANALYSIS (20 points)

Circle #7 – Draw a PICTURE of the main character. Label him/her.

Circles #8 – Describe the main character of the story. Focus especially on PERSONALITY characteristics in your description.

SYNTHESIS (20 points)

Circle #9 – Write a poem about the conflict(s) of the book. It must be at least 8 lines long.

Circle #10 – Write a different ending to the story.

EVALUATION (20 points)

Circle #11 – Determine the point of view used to tell the story. How would the story have changed if it had been told from a different point of view? Did the author choose well, in your opinion? Explain.

Circle #12 – Write a paragraph telling your opinion of this book. Tell why you would or would not recommend it to other readers. What type of readers would enjoy this book?

5 points - Your first & last name and RELA 6- # should be written on a tag attached to your project.

Grading

Your grade will be determined according to the points indicated after each level of thinking. Included in each point value will be the thorough completion of the task as well as spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and neatness.

Where to get the circle templates:

You will find the template for the dodecahedron circles on your teacher’s website under the Summer Reading page. You will need to print the circles page six times (so you will have a total of 12 circles). If you do not have a printer at home, you may print them from a classroom computer or the library.
