8. Describe two scientific changes that impacted society during the Renaissance.

ü  Astronomers studied the planets and their orbits
ü  Astronomers discovered that the Earth revolves around the sun in elliptical orbits and travel at different speeds
ü  The invention of a much improved telescope by Galileo allowed scientists to make more accurate observations and make discoveries of the planets.
ü  Science also created conflict as some discoveries raised questions about church teachings. However, scientific discoveries continued to develop rapidly.
ü  Clock making was improved with the use of a pendulum / ü  New instruments were invented to make exact measurements/observations: the telescope, microscope, barometer, and thermometer
