Merger updates
Our timeline for one reservation system
We're on track to completely transition all USAirways flights to the AmericanAirlines SABRE reservation system by October 17.
Once we move to SABRE, we'll be one airline with one website, and all USAirways flights will become AmericanAirlines flights.
The merger schedule change occurred on July 18, beginning a transition period of 90 days before SHARES is deactivated. Now:
  • USAirways flights will no longer be offered for travel departing on or after October 17. These same flights will become American flights.
  • Existing USAirways reservations with travel departing on or after October 17 (currently less than 10% of all USAirways reservations) will be migrated to SABRE and will become American reservations.

Network updates
Fly to Sydney on American, nonstop
Starting December 17, 2015, we'll begin new daily, nonstop service between Los Angeles International (LAX) and Sydney (SYD)* , subject to government approvals. We'll operate this new service with our stateoftheart, threeclass Boeing 777300ER aircraft. This route is now available for booking.
In addition to daily, nonstop access to Australia on American, customers can now book San Francisco International (SFO) – SYD, operated by Qantas*. With this partnership, customers will enjoy more choices and a more seamless experience when travelling across both airlines' networks.
New service to Latin America and the Caribbean
This year, we have the honour of celebrating 25 years of connecting travellers to nearly 100 Latin American destinations – but we're not done yet. By the end of this year, we'll add nine new routes from five of our key hubs to take travellers where they want to go. With our everexpanding network, we're bringing travellers more flights to more destinations in Latin America than any other carrier.

Airport updates
Avoid lines with the UK's Registered Traveller service
Nationals of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and the U.S. can benefit from the recently updated Registered Traveller service offered by the UK Border Force, providing an easier and faster arrivals experience. Registered travellers have the option of using UK/EU lanes and ePassport gates at passport control to avoid lines and save time. ePassport gates are already available in Glasgow (GLA), Edinburgh (EDI), Birmingham (BHX) and Manchester (MAN). In September, London Heathrow (LHR) plans to introduce 15 gates in T5, with additional gates coming in T3 in 2016. For more information or to apply, visit the Registered Traveller website.
Partner updates
A taste of things to come at British Airways
As part of their ongoing investment in the in-flight experience, British Airways are introducing a number of enhancements to their food and drink service over the coming months. Tastier appetisers, more snack boxes and extra cheese plates are just some of the changes being made across Club World and World Traveller cabins on various long haul flights. Additionally, customers travelling in First, Club World and World Traveller Plus on selected flights can now choose their complimentary in-flight meal between 30 days and 24 hours before their flight.
Japan Airlines Named Best Economy Class Airline Seat
Japan Airlines was awarded Best Economy Class Airline Seat at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, held at the Paris Air Show on June 16. JAL has been introducing its new economy class seat, JAL SKY WIDER, on international routes since January 2013. The seat pitch of JAL SKY WIDER was increased approximately 10cm to provide more room for seating in the airline's international economy class.
