URDD PEMBROKESHIRE SWIMMING GALA - Wednesday, November 19th

The Pembrokeshire Urdd Swimming Gala for primary schools will be held at the HAVERFORDWEST Swimming Pool, St. Thomas Green on Wednesday, November 19th.

There is plenty of parking space around the complex. There is a car park on St. Thomas Green, parking spaces under the pool building, and also there is a car park very close by in Riflemans Field. Buses should park Riflemans Field.

We will be following the usual arrangements with the years 5 & 6 competitions in the morning with first race at 9.40a.m (warm-up at 9:25), and years 3 & 4 competitions in the afternoon with first race at 1.20p.m (warm-up at 1:10), hoping to finish by 3:30p.m. The gala will start on time, if you are not there when your race starts YOU WILL have missed your race and the subject is closed. If you intend on staying throughout the day there is a café on site, or you may bring a packed lunch with you.

There will a number of heats/races in every competition. There will be no final. The swimmer with the fastest time (barring disqualification) from all heats will represent Pembrokeshire in the Urdd National Final to be held at WalesNational Pool, Cardiff on Saturday 24th of January 2015.

Each school is only allowed to enter two swimmers for each individual race and only one team for each relay race. No single individual is allowed to compete in more than two individual races (Including the IM).

We are moving this year to a system of electronic registration (although we will allow paper entries this year if preferred). A copy of the form is enclosed in the pack but we will email a digital copy to each school in October (Email if you require us to send a copy now) We must receive all entries by Thursday, November 13th.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EVERYBODY WHO TAKES PART CAN COMPLETE THE RACE COMFORTABLY. THERE WILL BE LIFEGUARDS AT THE POOLSIDE, BUT IT CAN CAUSE A GREAT DEAL OF EMBARRASSMENT TO A CHILD IF HE/SHE IS IN A RACE HE/SHE CANNOT FINISH.

Remember that every competitor MUST be a member of the Urdd for the year 2014-2015. We will accept the £7 membership fee on the day. However it is possible to pay a membership fee at a discounted rate of £6 if it received by us before November 6th. Contact me to discuss.
