Upstate Hiking and Outdoor Adventures www.camping.meetup.com/141/ November 2011

Welcome to all our new members who have joined in the past month. We have a lot going on and would like all new and old members to take a few minutes and check out the calendar of events and make your RSVP so planning can be completed. There is no need to RSVP “no” to any event unless you are changing your “yes” to a no.

Events coming Up:

Early thanksgiving weekend at Oconee county state park. We will be camping in the primitive area by the barn and holding the feast there also. Please up date you’re RSVP to include the type of side dish you are bringing and for those that have already thank you. The turkeys will be fried in peanut oil so if anyone is allergic to peanut oil please do not eat the turkey. See last page for more information about this event.

Christmas party: Is December 3rd and will be held at Mimi’s Cafe off of Woodruff Road close to Green Ridge shopping center. Please make your RSVP so we can tell the restaurant about how many are coming. We will have a back room and can order off the menu. Appalachian Outfitters is giving us some items to use for the raffle. Thanks to Jonathon and Diana for their support of our group.

New Years Eve Party: is being held as a primitive camping trip at Blue Valley. It will be a dress up affair so bring your tent and tux and fancy dress and be prepared for cold and snow.

Yes we do hike in the cold and snow so please keep an eye out for events as we add them and we take the liberty of changing the location due to weather conditions and road conditions so check out the event before coming to make sure where we are going and it is possible that we will change destinations after everyone has arrived at the meeting place due to conditions. Nature is not predictable so we ask everyone to have a spirit of adventure on all of our hikes no matter what the season.

We will be continuing our basic backpacking trips leaving on Saturday and returning on Sunday through the winter. Marianna has one scheduled for this weekend Nov. 5th and 6th and there is one scheduled for Dec. 17th and 18th. So pack your winter coat and come join in the fun.
