Uploading Video using Canon FS200

All footage must be uploaded in the same block it is filmed. Once uploaded to your hard drive, all video files must be deleted from the camera.

1. Step One- PLUG IN and CONNECT

·  Plug in the compact power adapter to the camera and an outlet

·  Plug in the USB to the camera and to the front of the computer

·  Turn camera on and put it in ‘playback mode’. (inside bottom right of lcd panel) It will not work if you are in record mode.

2 Step Two- COPY AND PASTE .MOD files to hard drive

·  Wait a few minutes after you plug in-(you may or may not see the ‘found new hardware’ pop-up message):

·  dc on my computer>

·  dc removable storage f>

·  dc on SD_Video>

·  dc on prgXXX (these folders will contain video files)

·  SELECT your files that end in .mod (these are your videos) PLEASE DO NOT watch the video files from my computer. Note: (Use the dates and times to tell which are likely yours).

·  Copy and paste these files from the ‘removable f drive’ to a folder inside your video edit hard drive (my computer>storage d>video edit>your name>a folder. You can make folders in your hard drive as you need them.

Step Three- CHANGE FILE EXTENSION

(You must be in your hard drive to do this)

·  You now must rename the file manually by using the file>rename and changing the .MOD file extension name to .M2V. You must have the dot before M2V (You can change the name of the video file, but the end must be .M2V).

·  Import the files into premiere to make sure they work and have audio in the timeline (or double click through your hard drive to play them)

Step 4: DELETE SOURCE FILES (your video files from the camera)

·  Go back to the removable storage f and locate your prgXXX folder and delete the whole folder. Do not delete any other folders but the ones that contain your videos.

(Or- delete the videos directly from the camera using the joystick).
