Combine suprapartisan efforts to repeal the war-making law

The A9A founders’meeting to be followed by a public lecture

A9A is going to hold a public lecture on November 13th, which is aimed at looking back on our struggle and reconfirming our determination to follow the aspirations of late founder Tsurumi Shunsuke. Before the lecture, the founders’meeting is scheduled to be held, in which they will discuss what A9A should be from now on after 10 years of activities.

*Venue : Nihon-Kyoiku Kaikan in Tokyo
*Lecturers : Oe Kenzaburo, Sawachi Hisae
*Guest speaker : Masukawa Toshihide (professor emeritus at Kyoto university)
*Admission : ¥ 1,200 (advance ticket), ¥ 1,500 (on the door)

The following are daily activities of provincial A9A groups.

Higashi-okitama Group

The group held a public lecture on October 17th in Takahata-machi in Yamagata Prefecture inviting Magosaki Ukeru, former diplomat who served as the head of the Foreign Ministry's Intelligence and Analysis Bureau, with the attendance of 400 people.

Matsumoto Group

The group staged a rally and a parade on October 18th in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture to demand that various parties collaborate putting differences aside just to abolish the war legislation. It was attended by 350 people.

Gunma Group

The group held an exchange meeting and a public lecture inviting Igarashi Jin, an emeritus researcher at the Ohara Institute for Social Research, Hosei University with the attendance of 126 people.

Kanuma Group

The group staged a rally and a parade on October 3rd in Kanuma city, Tochigi Prefecture attracting about 100 people. The prefectural representatives of Japanese Communist Party, Democratic Party of Japan, and Social Democratic Party made a speech at the rally.

Anan Group

The group appealed for abolition of the war legislationon October 19th in front of Tachibana Station in Tokushima Prefecture raising a banner saying “Abolish the war legislation. Don’t send young people to.”

Tateshina Group

The group held the first “light-truck demonstration” on October 12th in Tateshina, Nagano Prefecture. The members drove throughout the city for three hours in 6 light trucks with various decorations and flags.

Gifu group

Several groups in the northwest part of Gifu Prefecture held a meeting on October 11th in a community hall, where the participants had an opportunity to hear what those who had adirect experience of the war have to say, to reflect on the current situation, and to talk about the future. It was attended by 60 people.

Sign Language Group in Hokkaido

Deaf-and-mute people and those who learn sign language formed a group in September 2014. Within a year, the number of members has increased from 66 to 258. The group held a public lecture to celebrate its first anniversary on October 17th in Sapporo with the attendance of 70 people, where lawyer Takahashi Toru explained what the war legislation is and emphasized the need to retrieve democracy and constitutionalism.
