Wake County College Fair
On Sunday, September 21st, the Wake County College Fair will be held at the NC State McKimmon Center from 2:00 - 4:30 pm. Over 100 colleges will be represented at this fair. Information sessions on "Preparing for College" will be held at 2:30 and 3:30, and Financial Aid Information Sessions will be held at 2:45 and 3:45. Parking and admission are free. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with admissions officers and learn more about potential colleges of interest.
9/11 Evening Commemoration at Red Hat Amphitheater
Activate Good, a local non-profit that pairs volunteers with volunteer organizations and is also a partner with the 9th grade Freshman Seminar course, is hosting a great opportunity for families or individuals to get involved on the September 11th National Day of Service.Enjoy live music, participate in hands-on service projects, bring non-perishable items for an on-site food drive, and hear words from Mayor Nancy McFarlane and Activate Good to conclude this community-wide day of service. Attending participants will have a choice of which service project to participate in based on 4-6 "service project stations" we'll have laid out throughout the amphitheater. All projects at these service project stations will be hands-on and kid-friendly. Please see the link below for more information. Practice PSAT & Give Back Seminar
There will be a Practice SAT offering at WYMLA on September 27, 2014 at 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Students will return to WYMLA on October 25, 2014 at 9:00 am to attend a "Give Back Seminar" in which they will receive their results and get tips on taking the SAT. Ms. Latonya Pender will have a sign up sheet posted on her office door for 7th - 10th grade students to sign up. There are only 25 slots open, therefore, students will be registered on a first come, first serve basis.
