A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Stan Hardin upon his induction into the Dawahares/Kentucky High School Athletic Association's Hall of Fame.

WHEREAS, Stan Hardin made his first trip to the Sweet 16 of the Kentucky high school basketball state tournament 56 years ago as the 12 year-old son of Harry Hardin, coach of the Fairdale High School boy's basketball team, and returned with Fairdale to the state tournament 33 years later, as Coach Stan Hardin; and

WHEREAS, Stan Hardin played basketball at Southern High School, then won a basketball/football scholarship to Western Kentucky University where he played for a year before he decided to join the United States Air Force. At Edwards Air Force Base in California, Mr. Hardin fueled planes by day and his love for basketball by night, and after leaving the service, he played basketball at a California junior college, and finished his college career at Dickinson State College in North Dakota, highlighted by a trip to the semifinals of the NAIA Tournament. It was then that Stan Hardin knew he wanted to coach, and, following his heart, he came home to Kentucky, the "greatest place to coach basketball"; and

WHEREAS, this self-proclaimed "gym rat" was head basketball coach at Fairdale High School for 13 years, winning the state championship in 1990 and 1991, and earning a record of 247 wins against 138 losses, and also coached at Fern Creek and Holy Cross, making his career record 395 and 288 overall. Currently the Athletic Director at Holy Cross High School, Mr. Hardin has devoted his life to shaping young lives, teaching them lessons on the court, as well as lessons about life off the court, and is highly deserving to be among the Hall of Fame's Class of 2006;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
