A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Willard M. Martin.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Willard M. Martin, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Willard M. Martin was born on May 3, 1917, a native of Clark County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on February 21, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Willard M. Martin was the loving son of the late Willard Madison and Alice Ward Martin; he was the devoted husband of Louise Dean Martin; he was the loving father of a daughter, Mary Lynn Martin of Irvine, and two sons, Wayne Madison Martin and Wesley McCullum Martin, both of Winchester; and he was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Christopher Madison Martin, Pamela Dale Dening and Bradley Weston Martin, all of Lexington, and William Matthew Martin and Wayne Michael Martin, both of Winchester; and

WHEREAS, Willard M. Martin served his country with pride and distinction in the United States Army during World War II, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge; and

WHEREAS, prior to his military service, Willard M. Martin served for five years as surveyor and county supervisor for the Triple A Agriculture Program, and he was bookkeeper and office manager for Pure Oil Distributors; after his service in the military, he was a bookkeeper for Yeary Transfer, and he was a 20-year employee of Ratliff Furniture where he served as office manager, salesman, part-owner, secretary, treasurer, and general manager; and

WHEREAS, Willard M. Martin was an esteemed member of the Clark County community where he was a devout member of the First Christian Church of Winchester where he served as an elder and as past chairman of the board; he was a past president of the Kentucky Housing Authority Association and a past executive director of the Housing Authority of Winchester for 21 years; he was a past president of the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce, and a past president of the Winchester Rotary Club; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Willard M. Martin has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. This honorable body does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Willard M. Martin, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Willard M. Martin.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Louise Dean Martin, 385 Boone Avenue, Winchester, Kentucky 40391.
