A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Phil Huddleston and his many years of service to the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

WHEREAS, Phil Huddleston began his career with the staff of the Legislative Research Commission in 1980 as a Legislative Analyst, then as an Assistant to long-time LRC Director, the late Vic Hellard, as well as serving in other positions over the course of more than twenty years; and

WHEREAS, through decades of change as the General Assembly began its journey toward legislative independence, Phil Huddleston was instrumental in the establishment of what is now known as the Office of Constituent Services, providing citizens of Kentucky a direct link to their Senators and Representatives, and enhancing the ability of legislators to react to problems of their constituents; and

WHEREAS, Phil Huddleston served both chambers of the General Assembly with unsurpassed devotion to the legislative process and to each member, Democrat and Republican alike, garnering the respect and affection of legislators on both sides of the aisle; and

WHEREAS, in 1997, during a tumultuous time in the Kentucky Senate, Phil Huddleston, without regard to potential risk to his own career, placed duty before self, and joined the staff of the Senate President's Office, helping to guide the new President Larry Saunders as he assumed the duties of that office, and with dogged determination, helped to preserve the legacy of legislative independence; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career with the Legislative Research Commission, Phil Huddleston served the General Assembly and the people of the Commonwealth with unwavering devotion, selflessness and good humor, earning the trust of his colleagues and members of both chambers;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
