A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Pamela S. Johnson.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Pamela S. Johnson, and we pause in silent reverence for her soul.

WHEREAS, Pamela S. Johnson was born on January 14, 1949, a native of Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky, and she traversed these earthly bounds on May 24, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Pamela S. Johnson was the loving daughter of the late Buddy and Lillian Hearn Smith; she was the devoted wife of David N. Johnson; she was the loving mother of a daughter, Tammi Jarboe of Lebanon; and a son, Bryan F. Johnson of Millville; and she was the proud grandmother of a granddaughter, Alyssa N. Johnson of Frankfort; and she also leaves behind a loving uncle and aunt, David and Nancy Taylor of Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, Pamela S. Johnson was an esteemed member of the Woodford County community, and she was a member of the Millville Christian Church; and

WHEREAS, Pamela S. Johnson began her impressive career with the Kentucky Retirement Systems in 1967; in 1970, she was promoted from clerk stenographer to Executive Secretary, in which position she worked directly with the General Manager and the Kentucky Retirement Systems Board of Trustees, and also served as the sole investment specialist and was responsible for the placement of buy and sell orders with brokers and balancing portfolios; in 1978, she became a Branch Manager in Benefits Counseling and was responsible for overseeing all retirement cases, including death, disability, early, and normal retirement, the publication of the first Summary Plan Description, the re-establishment of a quarterly newsletter to members, and the development of the first annual statements to members; in 1985, she was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Benefits Services, where she oversaw the Benefits Counseling Branch and Records and Employer Services Branch, and she was also responsible for the development of legislative recommendations; in 1989, she was appointed General Manager of the retirement systems, and remained in that capacity until her retirement in February 2001; and

WHEREAS, we will remember Pamela S. Johnson for her dedication in improving the quality of life for both active and retired members of the Kentucky Retirement Systems, and we are also reminded that ethics and integrity played a large part toward her many achievements at the Kentucky Retirement Systems; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Pamela S. Johnson has left a void that cannot be filled, and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Pamela S. Johnson, and extends to her family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Pamela S. Johnson.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mr. David N. Johnson, 1900 Shore Acres Road, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
