Academic Corner

Dear Kinder Parents,

We are excited and eager to welcome back kinder students this week! Each classroom is working hard on lesson progression and mastery. It is very important to send your child to school everyday and in a timely manner. Students have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals to meet and homework is included in these goals. Please take the time to go over homework and journal on a daily basis. We like to celebrate everyone's hard work and success!

We are also excited to announce that we are going to study customs around the world this holiday season. Each classroom is adopting a country and will thoroughly study their many customs and traditions. More information on this will be sent home in the coming days. We would like to inform you of the countries our classrooms have adopted:

Ms. Garza - Japan

Mrs. Guerrero - Mexico

Mrs. Ornelas - Germany

Ms. Suarez - India

AR-ZONE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Reading truly is fundamental. It provides the foundation for your child's learning. Reading everyday will help your child become a stronger reader and perform better in school. Parents continue encouraging your children to read 20 minutes a day. Remind your children to read and test atleast once a week before Friday for the rest of the year and score 85% or higher on their AR reading quizzes.

Your child has an AR POINT GOAL challenge that must be reached before Friday DECEMBER 14, 2012. The students that reach their AR GOAL will receive a VIP PASS to the AR-ZONE WINTER BASH celebration. Parents help your child achieve their goal. This celebration will be held on December 18, 2012 during their AR-Zone elective time. If you have any questions please feel free to call me or email me. I will be glad to assist you.

This year we have a MILLIONAIRE'S BOOK CLUB for grades 1-3 and 6-7th. So I encourage all students to make it a READING challenge not a RACE! So far I have a total of 17 students in 6th & 7th grade that are millionaires WAY TO GO!!!
