The victims were seriously wounded and was immediately escorted to KingEdwardHospital whereupon approximately an hour later, one of the victims, offender Chamane passed away. The offender used bandages to make a rope. The offender came from Boksburg as an XDR patient and was sent to Durban for treatment. After treatment it was found that he was a MDR patient. The offender met the criteria for medical release but had no support system. Offender requested a transfer back to Boksburg but was disapproved.
