DECLARATION – SURREY SCHOLARSHIP
I confirm that I have downloaded the document ‘University of Surrey Bursaries and Scholarships: Terms and Conditions 2014-15from the Registry web pages and that, in accepting the award offered to me, I agree to these terms and conditions.
I understand that, if I withdraw from my programme, either through formally notifying the University of my decision to do so, or through ceasing to attend the programme before 03 March 2015 I will not be eligible for any payment of a Surrey Scholarship.
I understand that, if I change my programme of study or pattern of study this may affect my entitlement to an award. I will tell the Registry immediately if my circumstances change in any way that might affect my entitlement to support. I understand that the Registry will use my year end academic assessment to determine if I will remain eligible to receive a Surrey Scholarship in subsequent years.
I understand that, if I receive any overpayment of an award, due to a change in my circumstances, I will be required to repay any overpayment of my scholarship to the University in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of my award and I undertake to do so within 28 days of being requested to do so.
As far as I know the information that has been given to the University in connection with my eligibility for a Surrey Scholarship is true and complete. I understand that if I have provided any false or incomplete information to the University (e.g. as part of my UCAS application or in correspondence with the University about a bursary or scholarship or my fees status), the offer of a Surrey Scholarship may be withdrawn and I will be required to repay any sums paid to me.

UNIVERSITY OF SURREY BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS
Terms & Conditions 2014-15
SECTION A: Students Who Started Programmes in 2011-12
The Terms and Conditions in this section refer to University of Surrey Bursaries and Scholarships which are available during the 2014-15 academic session. When you first receive an award, and for each year that you continue to receive an award, the Registry will write to you about the value of that award and the associated terms and conditions.
Performance Scholarship
If you started a programme in 2011-12 and the award notification refers to the offer of a Performance Scholarship, the value of your scholarship will remain fixed at £1,000 p.a. (or part thereof for part years of attendance) throughout the normal duration of your current programme, excluding periods of professional training and the additional period of study associated with an extended programme, provided that you continue to attend the programme as normal and subject to meeting performance criteria. In order to continue to hold your scholarship, you must obtain at least 70% in the appropriate end of level assessment, i.e. at the end of level HE2 in order to receive a scholarship during level HE3 of your programme.
Confirmation of the continuation of your scholarship for future years of your programme will be issued to you by the Registry at the end of each academic session, after confirmation of your year-end assessments. If you do not meet the required performance threshold, you will be notified of the suspension or discontinuation of your scholarship.
Scholarshipsare paid in a single instalment into your bank account on or shortly after 03 March, or within 21 days of our receiving the notification of your acceptance of the scholarship terms and conditions and your bank account details, whichever is the later date.
If you transfer to part-time study (other than to repeat an academic year, or part thereof on a part-time basis) or withdraw or go absent from your course this may affect your funding entitlement, and you are strongly encouraged, therefore, to contact the Scholarships and Bursaries Adviser before making any decision to change your pattern of study, in case this affects your eligibility for University scholarship or bursary funding.
Extended Programme Bursaries
If you are following a programme of extended duration, such as an extended MEng programme, which requires attendance beyond 3 years (full-time programme) or 4 years (sandwich programme), there are University of Surrey Extended-Programme awards to help you during the additional period of study. These awards are not means-tested (i.e. not based on your residual income/maintenance grant) and are awarded automatically to all UK/EU students on extended programmes after completion of the relevant study period. They have a value of 50% of the prevailing annual variable tuition fee rate.
Students in receipt of an Extended Programme Bursary are not eligible for any other awards detailed in the Terms & Conditions.
SECTION B: Students Who Started Programmes between 2006 and 2010
The Terms and Conditions in this section refer to University of Surrey Bursaries and Scholarships which are available during the 2014-15 academic session, to students who started programmes between 2006 and 2010. When you first receive an award, and for each year that you continue to receive an award, the Registry will write to you about the value of that award and the associated terms and conditions.
Scholarships
If you started your programme between 2006 and 2010 and the award notification refers to the offer of a Surrey Scholarship, the value of your scholarship will remain fixed at £1,000 p.a. (or part thereof for part years of attendance) throughout the normal duration of your current programme, excluding periods of professional training and the additional period of study associated with an extended programme such at the MEng, provided that you continue to attend the programme as normal and subject to meeting performance criteria. In order to continue retain your scholarship you must obtain at least 60% in the appropriate end of level assessment, i.e. at the end of level HE1 in order to receive a scholarship for level HE2, and at the end of level HE2 in order to receive a scholarship during level HE3 of your programme. If, however, your award is suspended at the end of level HE1 as you did not meet the required threshold of 60%, and you then pass level HE2 with more than 60%, your scholarship will be re-instated for level HE3.
Confirmation of the continuation of your scholarship for future years of your programme will be issued to you by the Registry at the end of each academic session, after confirmation of your year-end assessments. If you do not meet the required performance threshold, you will be notified of the suspension or discontinuation of your scholarship.
Your scholarship will be paid in a single instalment into your bank account on or shortly after 02 March, or within 21 days of our receiving the notification of your acceptance of the scholarship terms and conditions and your bank account details, whichever is the later date.
These awards are not means-tested (i.e. not based on your residual income/maintenance grant) and are awarded automatically to all UK/EU students on extended programmes, after completion of the relevant study period. They have a value of 50% of the prevailing annual variable tuition fee rate.
Students in receipt of an Extended Programme Bursary are not eligible for any other awards detailed in the Terms & Conditions.
The University reserves the right to withhold payment of a Surrey bursary or scholarship to a student who is in debt to the University, or to defer payment of a scholarship or bursary until either tuition fees have been paid in full or evidence of a loan for the appropriate amount has been provided.
Scholarship and Bursary Deadline:
Please note that scholarships and bursaries must be claimed during the same academic year for which they were offered. Scholarships and Bursaries for the academic year 2014-15 must be claimed by the 19th of June 2015. We will not be able to backdate payments after this date.
