We are seeking abright individual to join the University of Oxford China Office as aSummerOffice Assistantstarting from1 June to 31 July 2015. This is a unique opportunity to work for one of the world’s most prestigious universities and offers an excellent introduction to the field of higher education in Asia.

Besides general administrative support for the office, the post holder will also assist with research, event administration and data entry, and liaise with Oxford colleagues and alumni.

This position would suit a motivated university student or recent graduate with a friendly mannerwho is fluent in Cantonese with excellent English, with good administrative and communication skills and IT knowledge. Some experience with database software is required, and fluency in Putonghua is an asset.

Duties include:

  • Research in support of the team’s fundraising, alumni and public engagement activities,
  • Data entry, for which training to use the university database software will be provided,
  • Assistance in the management of social media accounts and websites of the office,
  • Proof-reading (Chinese and English) of online and print materials produced by the office,
  • General office administration, including filing and correspondence (in English), preparing financial account summaries, the booking of transport and accommodation for visiting Oxford university leaders,
  • Event administration, including maintaining registration lists, corresponding with venues and guests, front of house duty at events.

Period of employment:

1 June to 31 July 2015 (with a possible extension to 31 August)

Salary:

HK$6000/month

Working hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

The University of Oxford China Office

Established in 2007, the Oxford China Office (OCO) is based in Hong Kong, and works to further the University’s development and alumni relations priorities in Hong Kong, China and other parts of the Asia-Pacific region. It aims to develop significant philanthropic relationships with potential donors, engage alumni in activities of strategic importance, improve the visibility of the University of Oxford in Asia and liaise with other collegiate and university divisions, departments and units on Oxford’s wider outreach to Asia.

The OCO has an increasingly regional role, conducting important outreach in North Asia and South East Asia, but retains a strategic focus on Greater China.
