Application Procedures / PLUS Personal Information sheet

In addition to the application procedures required for possible admission to the Department of Planning and Urban Studies, applicants should also complete a UNO graduate application, available online at Please note that all PLUS applicants are required to have official GRE scores and transcripts of all prior academic work forwarded to the University of New Orleans Office of Admissions, not the Department of Planning and Urban Studies.

Please prepare and send (or, in the case of recommendation letters, ask your recommenders to prepare and send) the following documents to the PLUS Manager of Student Services and Communication at the addresses listed below. If letters of recommendation are to be sent electronically, they must be sent directly to the program by those persons writing the letters, rather being routed through an applicant. If the letters are to arrive in hard copy, they must be in sealed envelopes with the writer’s signature on the envelope.

  2. Three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your professional or academic background.
  3. A résumé.
  4. Master's applicants: A personal statement of approximately 500-1000 words outlining your academic interests and reasons for seeking an advanced degree in urban studies or urban and regional planning.
  5. Ph.D. in Urban Studies applicants: A personal statement of approximately 1000 words outlining your reasons for seeking an advanced degree in urban studies, including career objectives and particular research interests.
