Purpose of Org: UK Polo Team is dedicated to improving the skill and knowledge of the game of polo while maintaining a fun and social environment. We are an entirely student run organization that helps promote commitment and responsibility to all of its members. The team will work with each individual and adjust to their level of skill and experience. We compete against other collegiate polo teams such as University of Virginia, Cornell and Texas A&M.

Type of Grant: Club Sport Grant ($1,500)

Event/Project: United States Polo Association Intercollegiate Tournament Fees

Location:

Date:

Time:

Purpose of Event/Project: The purpose of attending the tournament is to promote the University of Kentucky polo team, compete against other clubs, connect with other teams around the country, challenge the players and to ultimately advance to Nationals.

Total Cost: 1200

Org funds used: Member dues are $1500 each semester with club members paying $600. Team members teach lessons to raise money and each lesson is $35 dollars per hour. T-shirt/clothing sales usually raise between $200-$600. Donations from polo members and other clubs across the country amounted to around $2000 this year.

Detailed Description of Request: Both the UK Women's and Mens polo teams are looking to travel to the University of Virginia to compete in the Southeastern Regionals. In order to do that, each team must pay $600 to the USPA which is a burden on our student run club where members already pay $1500 each semester. Receiving this grant would help offset those costs and allow us to use that money to provide proper and sufficient care to our horses.
