a.Governing Regulations Changes Review- Sen. ArayoSokan

i.Passing out of governing regulations changes review

1.review of nondiscrimination policy

a.Senator Massey- Is this in order with the law?

b.Senator Sokan- Yes

2.Senator Conner motions to vote to positively recommend the changes to Governing Regulations X and XIV by affirmation.

iii.The original GR that was reviewed earlier in the year

1.They University senate will respond to them.

2.Changes were separated into issues of clarity and substantive changes.

a.Issues of clarity will be excepted but substantive changes will be reviewed at a later date.

3.President Ingram and Senator Sokan believe that we should approve the GR changes and rework the Senate rules later.

i.Changing of University Appeals Board

1.allows UAB to “go to bat for students”

b.Senator Napier- if we send this through will they stillreview the rules?

i.Senator Sokan-It will be a good faith effort on their part so hopefully, but for the mean time we should make as much headway as possible. If they do not honor the agreement “We can make their lives a living hell”by “bugging the shit out of them”

ii.November 24th meeting is the date that the University Senate will be approving/review changes.

c.Senator Conner motions to positively recommend the GR changes previously discussed dealing with the University Appeals Board.
