Dear 4-H Member:
The Mosbacher 4-H Education Fund was established in 1971 to honor the superior service to McLeanCounty agriculture and the 4-H program by Cooperative Extension Service Agriculture Adviser Eugene G. Mosbacher.Since that time, the outstanding achievements of 122McLean County 4-H Club members have been recognized as they receive this award in honor of Mr. Mosbacher.Mr. Mosbacher passed away in 2002, and he is remembered for his many contributions to the program.
The awards are given to encourage graduated senior 4-H members to continue their education beyond high school by awarding cash scholarship grants.Depending on the number of qualified applicants, one to three scholarships will be granted in the amount of at least $2,000. To receive this award is both an honor and a financial aid to the recipient.
Eligibility:
- Current 4-H member who hasgraduated from high school during the 2016-2017school year and has been admitted to an accredited university, college, junior college, or vocational school for the 2017-2018 school year (proof of admittance required).
Details:
- Applications are due at the Extension office by 4:30 p.m. on October 23, 2017
- Applications are photocopied and sent to members of the Selection Committee.
- Selection committee scores forms at home.
- Committee meets, tallies scores, discusses, and chooses winners.
- Announcement of winners is made at Recognition of Excellence Banquet. The award check will be made out to the student and the higher education institution.

TIPS ON COMPLETING
THE MOSBACHER 4-H EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION:
Format:The Mosbacher trustees have chosen to adopt the Summary of 4-H Accomplishments from the Illinois 4-H Award Application process.The applicant should also have an additional one page “Personal Statement” explaining their accomplishments and goals for the future.
All applications must include:
• TheApplication Form with Personal Information (see next page)
• Summary of 4-H Accomplishments (see below)
• Personal Statement (see below)
• Proof of admittance to university, college, junior college or vocational school
Summary of 4-H Accomplishments:
- This section is for your entire 4-H career, and should include 4-H and non-4-H activities. You can create your summary from information included in your completed county/state 4-H records, but it should not be in the same format as the Illinois 4-H Award Application.
- Thissection must be typed. However, do NOT use a type size smaller than 12 pt. Times New Roman. All paper must be white and the standard 8-1/2" x 11" size. Margins should be a minimum of 1 inch on all four sides. A maximum of four pages (one side only) is allowed for the Summary of 4-H Accomplishments.
- NO PERSONAL NAMES, NAMES OF COUNTIES, FAMILY NAMES, CHURCH NAMES, or SCHOOL NAMES should be included in or on the Summary of Accomplishments.
- The Summary of Accomplishments should include two sections:(An example layout is attached to the application.)
- 4-H & Extension Accomplishments
- Community/School/Other Accomplishments
Personal Statement:Explain your accomplishments in 4-H and how these accomplishments have influenced your goals for the future. Limit to one typed page
(one side only). Follow style guidelines listed in #2 above.
Scoring:
