This role profile is non-contractual and provided for guidance. It will be updated and amended from time to time in accordance with the changing needs of the University and the requirements of the job.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
To contribute to the expansion of research activity within CAROLE and to REF 2021.
The main areas of research in the group are: input processing and processing instruction; the study of tense, aspect and copular clauses; bilingualism; psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Main Duties
To contribute and promote research and enterprise activities to support CAROLE and its staff
To develop appropriate external contacts and networks relevant future collaboration and funding opportunities
To undertake independent and collaborative research within the research group in Applied Linguistics and the new NOLTA-Lab
Team Specific
·  Foster collaboration and secure funding on research projects in the area of SLA
·  Contribute to the next REF 2021 submission in line with the Applied Linguistics Group plans
·  Contribute to the delivery of the SLA Summer School and one module on the MA programme
·  Support the current supervision arrangements for PhD/research students
Generic
·  Contribute to the academic life of the Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Humanities
·  To be available to teaching staff in the Faculty and research students to advise on specific areas of research expertise
·  Understand and implement policies and guidelines in relation to the administration of the Faculty and University

·  Source funding opportunities and write and/or assist in writing a bid for funding
·  Submit at least one co-authored paper to a peer reviewed journal to meet our plans for REF 2021
·  Develop good working relationships with colleagues within the sphere of CAROLE
·  Make a clear contribution to the research culture by, for example, giving a seminar, teaching a professional development workshop, peer reviewing colleagues papers or bids or introducing an innovative way of building research capacity or developing impact

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Experience
·  Evidence of previous experience of working in research as a member of a team
·  Evidence of quality publications at international level (3*-4*)
·  Demonstrable experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods
·  Experience in assisting and securing bids for external funding
·  Evidence of working on successful research projects
·  Previous teaching experience and supervision of MA and PhD students
