· Average number of graduates annually: 19
· Employment Statistics: 96% of our graduates who responded to an internal survey had secured a job in a human service profession six months following graduation. (UIS Research Survey Office)
· Agency/Employer feedback is obtained through our Internship (field experience) course. Forms that provide feedback from the internship site agency include: Performance Evaluation forms completed by the internship site supervisor, feedback is also obtained from the site supervisor when the course instructor makes a site visit.
· Role of the advisory committee in the formal evaluation process:
The HMS Advisory Committee meets once each fall and spring semester. A number of procedures have been operationalized to ensure that the advisory committee serves as a vehicle in addressing current issues such as national, state, and local trends, legislative and policy changes, and current research agendas. This information enhances our overall evaluation process. Those procedures are as follows:
· Contact HMS department faculty, CEHS Dean, and Advisory Committee members regarding their input on the HMS Advisory Committee agenda;
· Have HMS Advisory committee members provide updates on the following with respect to their disciplines:
o National, state, and local trends that impact human service delivery
o National and state legislative and policy changes
o Impact of budget cuts on human service programs
· Faculty provide committee members updates on their teaching, scholarship (research) and service with respect to their discipline.
· CEHS Dean James Ermatinger updates Advisory Committee members on college enrollments, university initiatives, faculty and staff searches, budgetary challenges and pending legislative policy that impacts higher education.
· Ensure that all concentrations (Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Child and Family Studies, Gerontology, and Social Service Administration) are represented on the Committee.
