Civil status:

Since October 4, 1980 married to Mag. Katharina Mayr (born in 1953);

three children: Theresia, Veronika, Lukas.

Education:

Primary school (Volksschule) in Freiburg, Black Forest, (1960-1965), Classical humanistic secondary school (Altsprachlich-humanistisches Gymnasium) „Stella Matutina“ in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg, Austria (1965-1972).

University Studies:

At the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, Italy (1972-1980);

Ph.D. in Philosophy (1980) and Bachelor in Theology (1979);

Habilitation in Christian Philosophy at the Theological Faculty of the University of Innsbruck, Austria (1984).

1980-1987 Assistant at the International Research Center for Fundamental Questions in Science (Internationales Forschungszentrum für Grundfragen der Wissenschaften) in Salzburg;

1987-1993 Editor and Deputy Director of the Tyrolia Publishing House in Innsbruck;

Since February 1, 1993 Professor of Christian Philosophy at the Theological Faculty of the University of Salzburg (Oct. 1, 1995 – Jan. 31, 1999 Dean of the Faculty and, in this function, Chair of the Austrian Conference of Deans);

Since February 1, 1999 Vicerector for Ressources and Deputy Rector of the University of Salzburg (in this function member of the Austrian Rectors‘ Conference);
