Job Purpose: To stage manage and oversee the successful run of

‘Little Red and The Big Bad Wolf’

at both Unity Theatre and Whitby Hall.

Dates The ITC/Equity contract is for ten weeks

Monday 7th November 2016 to Sunday 15th January 2017

Week One rehearsals at Whitby Hall, Ellesmere Port

Week Two and Three, rehearsals in Liverpool

Week Four Production Week at Unity

Week Five to Nine, performances at Unity Theatre, Liverpool

Week Ten, performances at Whitby Hall, Ellesmere Port

*We may also require an additional date to finish get out and dispose of set and return props – this will be negotiated and paid additionally if this date is outside of your contracted period.

Salary £447.50 per week

Note This is a Unity Theatre / Action Transport co production.

You will be employed and paid by Unity Theatre.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

During the rehearsal period,

·  From the beginning of rehearsals you will act as the lynchpin between the artistic process developing in the rehearsal room and the team physically building, sewing, assembling and making the production outside of that rehearsal room.

·  You will be the first port of call for anything concerning the show for all those involved in creating and running it.

·  You will support and assist where necessary the LIPA design team, working alongside the LIPA Production Manager

·  You will prepare, circulate and update rehearsal schedules, and rehearsal notes.

During the shows run you will

·  Be responsible for the management of each day's performance. You will lead the company in the absence of the director and ensure that the production continues to run with all aspects of it kept as directed and designed.

·  Operate the show, along with a member of the Unity technical team.

·  Run all back stage elements, including resets, prop and costume maintenance and repair.

·  Prepare and circulate show reports.

·  Ensure appropriate warm ups and performance preparation are undertaken by the cast.

·  Work with the company throughout to ensure good morale, resolving any issues and concerns wherever possible and alerting the appropriate staff where necessary.

·  Assist with the transfer to Ellesmere Port.

·  Liaise with Unity / Action Transport’s technical and front of house teams.

·  Stay in regular contact with the Director.

Organisational Duties:

·  To be aware of and to adhere at all times to, the Theatre’s Policies.

·  To undertake any other duties as required by the Theatre.

Person Specification

Essential

·  You will be an experienced stage manager with significant experience of similar projects.

·  You will enjoy a challenge and be a good creative problem solver. You will be a good planner and organiser, with a knack for multi-tasking, prioritising and keeping calm under pressure.

·  Technical skills in one or more of the following are essential – sound, costume, prop making.

·  You will be hard working, not worried by long hours.

·  A proven ability to work as part of a team.

·  Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise courteously, calmly and effectively with co-workers,

·  Ability to be flexible, as work will include early morning school shows, some evenings and weekends

Desirable

·  A clean driving license.

·  Priority will be given to Liverpool or North West based applicants
