Funding requirements

  1. Is the applicant a 501(c)(3) organization?
  2. Will United Way funds target only Wyoming Valley residents?
  3. Eligible organizations must employ at least one paid staff person.
  4. Does the lead applicant have the capacity to track outcomes?
  5. Is the program’s main goal to address one of the following priorities – Food Insecurity, Temporary Housing, Urgent and Basic Needs? Requests to address a priority area as a wrap-around service to other programs will not be considered.
  6. Each Funding Priority has a minimum and maximum Request Amount. Applicant has reviewed the United Way of Wyoming Valley’s 2016-17 Safety Net Logic Model and Funding Priority Guidelines?

  • Continued funding for direct service programs.
  • Expand services for programs that show significant measurable results in order to serve more program participants through community partnerships (i.e. service providers, financial institutions, school districts).
  • Create new and innovative solutions to achieveTarget Outcomes.
  1. Applicants are limited to one Funding Priority Area per LOI – Funding Priority Areas include: Food Insecurity, Temporary Housing, Urgent and Basic Needs.
  1. Please explain specifically and in detail how your program would address United Way Safety Net Target Outcomes (500 characters), then provide at least one Outcome Statement. One outcome is required. Two outcomes are the maximum.

Target Outcomes

Food Insecurity -- Hungry people access healthy food through a network of effective, community-based organizations.

Temporary Housing -- Individuals, families and youth obtain short-term, emergency shelter

Urgent and Basic Needs -- Individuals, families and youth receive essential services to address needs of an urgent nature
