DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief Security Officer and the direct supervision and guidance of Supervisor, General Duty Officer/Security Assistant Supervisor, the incumbent performs the following tasks:

Ensure that all Guards in his/her shift (BI Security Contractors) are properly inspected and briefed on the performance of their duties prior to their shift.

Brief the shift on the latest security developments that may affect the security and safety of the UNMIK HQ and staff members/visitors.

Under the supervision of the Duty Officer/GDU Supervisor posts the guards (BI Security Contractors) to the various posts and follow up to make sure that the guards are carrying out their duties in a professional and correct manner according to the post descriptions.

  • Should be in possession of a valid national driving license and UNMIK driving license.

Periodically conduct foot patrol and mobile patrols in posts in order to inspect duty performance of guards (BI Security contractors) guides and assist them if necessary.

Report all incidents brought to his/her attention immediately to the Duty Officer/ GDU Supervisor through daily shift reports.

  • Conducts compound and perimeter patrols and reports all activities, irregularities and discrepancies to Duty Officer/ GDU Supervisor for necessary further action.
  • Respond immediately to all calls from the Guards (BI Security Contractors) at the posts and assist in solving any problem/dispute/incident in a professional way.

Inspect and ensure that all security equipment handed over for duty is in good working order prior to the shift commence and report any damage or deficiency immediately to the Duty Officer or GDU Supervisor / through Security Assistant Supervisor.

Brief incoming Security Assistant before going off duty and make sure all equipments and posts handed over are in proper working condition.

  • Be responsible to check that no equipments/reading materials are left at the posts prior to handover to next Security Assistant new shift.

Assist the Duty Officer in all aspects of the performance of his daily duties.

Supervise outsourced private Security Company staff on duty during his/her shift.

Ensure the welfare of the Security Guards on duty during his/her shift.

Undertake any other duties as may be directed by the GDU Supervisor/Duty Officer or the next supervisor in the line of command.

Professionalism:Ability to demonstrate sound judgement in applying technical expertise to resolve a range of protection issues and problems; ability to plan and organize assignments;

Technological Awareness: Proficient computer skills and use of relevant software (word processing, travel related software and data entry processes);

Communication: Proven communication skills in English and local languages (spoken and written), including the ability to draft standard memoranda and to articulate ideas in an effective style;

Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in multicultural, multiethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Ability to lead and gain the assistance and cooperation of others in a team endeavor.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: Completion of secondary School or equivalent diploma.

Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in the field of Security. Good knowledge of UN system, particularly of mission vision and mandate.

Language: Fluency in oral and written English, Albanian and Serbian.
