Initial Activities / The teacher will show the picture book The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney. The students compare and contrast the two characters based on the pictures. / The teacher reads aloud the fable: The tortoise and the Hare.

Development Activities / Students complete a Venn Diagram Graphic Organizer to compare and contrast the characters using prefixes to tell how they feel, their actions and how they look. / The teacher explains how root words can be the main words and adding different prefixes changes its meaning and creates a new word. The students will look for different words with prefixes in the story and create a list and chart them. / Students create a character accordion book. Illustrate the character in front and on the back will write three character traits. / Students will create a T-Chart of nouns and their plural form. / Play partner concentration game with plural Nouns
