Unit One: The New Land 1607-1750 – Post –Assessment English III
In this unit, we have studied a variety of writings, from both Native American culture and Colonial American culture that express a strong belief in a divine creator, or, in some cases, creators.
In an essay you will need to address the following questions: (do not answer #1-4 individually)
1. What role did their creator(s) play in each culture?
2. How did each group perceive their creator and his/her/its relationship with humankind?
3. How does each creator reflect the value of the respective culture to which it is associated?
4. How is each creator described in the particular texts from this unit?
Reminders
· You will need to cite at least two (2) specific examples of support from the texts and include them in your writing as evidence to describe the importance of a divine creator to both cultures.
o For the Native American examples and textual references, you can go back and explore the Inuit and Mayan myths.
o For the Puritan examples and textual references, you can refer back to the journals of William Bradford.
· This short comparison contrast essay should be a minimum of 200 words.
