UNIT ONE OUTLINE : WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION

This unit focuses on examining the key issues involved with the protest song movement and its history. Students will analyse and evaluate the issues in a number of protest songs from the past and present. They will select a key song from the top ten protest songs of all time and compose a review for “Rolling Stone” magazine.

Learning Goal: Students are to reflect on the current songs they listen to and identify main issues and motivations behind the song lyrics. / Students complete exercises on slide two of Protest songs power point.

Learning Goal: Identify and summarise the background information of the protest song movement. / Students identifying the reasons behind the establishment of the protest song movement.

Learning Goal: To demonstrate an understanding of the generic structure of the introduction and background paragraphs of a written review for Rolling Stone (draft). / Write the introduction and first few background paragraphs of the review. Revise evaluative language used.
